It's ok.
The Great Hindu tradition is a good read. But caters to a very narrow audience. Could have addressed questions from a wider audience than just people from India. In some places, the author takes a stance that might not be representing the Hindu tradition completely.

Description of Hindu tradition descibed from a conservative Hindu view
Nice book on the Hindu tradition. The book is not so organized since there is no page of content and chapters are not clearly divided.Anyhow it does give answers on many How and What about the Hindu life and habbits. Although it seems to me especially interesting for a 'Hindu believer.' Why? Because it seems more meant to help you not to do any mistake in the ritual, than to explain the background.

Nice book that succinctly explains the tradition. A must have. I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page.

very informative,
Written in an engaging style that is not preachy. Good reference when I cannot reach an elder in my family with questions, or if elders do not know the answer.

Fascinating
I purchased this book and then purchased one more and gifted to my brother in law. Every hindu brahmin house should have this book. This book is a glimpse of our vedic traditions and provides detailed explanations about our rituals to follow, and what not to follow and most importantly the reasons behind it. This discusses our dharma in detail in an easy question-answer pattern and what we need to know in our everyday activities. Even though I loved many things about this book I will try to mention briefly the most salient things -- its in easy to english book but does not compromise on the quality or the content. The format of question-answer makes its like bhagavat-gita itself. Another important thing is the author has not imposed to the readers with everything he knows, for ex however knowledge he is he has not showed his ego by unnecessarily writing complex things like brahmasutras or prapanchasaras, couple of simple vedic claims has been mentioned but the intent here has been to help strengthen the hindu belief systems and the reason behind the rituals and our dharma leading to moksha. In these modern times where we have all come to earn our livelihood in different countries and different industries and mix with different cultures, I think this book is an ocean of knowledge that will not only enlighten a person about his duties but also make him understand the glory of our ancestors tradition and why we need to follow it and ensure the lineage is not broken.

Delightful Read!
The author is an acclaimed Veda Pandit with roots in the Rashtriya Swayamsewa Sangh ( RSS ). He is constantly striving for the re-establishment of vedic virtues amongst his community members and performing his dharma. He has inspired many of us younger Iyer generation to not get swayed by the vagaries of this materialistic world and start performing our Nithy karmas diligently, for the welfare of our family, community and Bharatavarsha.धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः
