Bought this as a replacement for a heavy duty starter I installed several years ago. This little thing turns over the engine much faster than that "HD" starter ever did and the price is so much better! If you have a need for this type of starter, I would recommend this one. As for longevity, I can not say at this time, it has only been in operation for about a month!UPDATE: It's been almost a year and it's still going strong!

I just installed this yesterday on a 19.5HP B&S opposed twin cylinder engine from the late 1990's (this tractor is mostly metal unlike the tractors today. The starter I replaced looked like a B&S OEM but was quite old as the positive bolt connection broke at the plastic connection and fell off.This starter is obviously of a little lower quality (casting had a hole and seemed quite rough and thin. The plastic starter gear had less material and doesn't look like it will last as long as the starter it replaced but time will tell.The prior starter would work 50% of the time, but when it did it really struggled to turn the motor over. I installed this starter and a new starter relay and the tractor turns over very easily now and fires up quickly.All in all for 50% of the cost of the B&S OEM starter I think the value was worth it.

Exact replacement and works very well. All these usually have a plastic gear that engages upon the flywheel. Be sure that it lines up or you may ruin that gear. Nice to find a OEM part that replaces original starter.Thx, Ron

This starter had been working great up until 1 month before the warranty ran out - and I can't get any customer support feedback.The spiral starter drive gear that engages the flywheel wore out and stuck resulting in the plastic drive gear itself being stripped. The electrical system on the mower is fine, but the mechanical parts of the starter engage gear is useless.I have tried contacting customer support more than once and have not had any reply at all. The warranty expires May 20th 2023... figures they'll drag their feet until the starter is out of warranty.Dont buy from these guys expecting them to honor the quality of their product - unless you want to replace the starter once a season

These starters last 1 year. I bought 1 july of 2017 and it does not work anymore. I bought 1 between sept and november of 2016. So now it is May 5, 2108 and now i need another one. This is crap. Your product sucks. Not a happy customer. You can get on your computer and see how many that i have purchased. The right thing to do is give me a free one.

this is the shorter version started, fit well onto my older Craftsman Lawn tractor, V twin with 19 HP. works and starts great.

The starter worked well however make sure you check the gear to make sure it doesn’t bind. Mine would stick and caused the plastic gear to wear down within weeks. Replaced the plastic gear lubricated it a bit and working great ever since.
