This is a great tool.
When I ordered this pencil divider from Grizzly, I was making do with a cheap office type compass. I needed more capacity (I only had three and a half inches with the compass). The divider from Grizzly fits my needs perfectly. First, it is a very heavy duty tool, solidly constructed, and will last forever. Second, it is tightly constructed; there is absolutely no play or wobble. Third, the pencil holder works perfectly, holding the pencil tightly with no play. The only negative is that because it is so tightly constructed, it is somewhat difficult to set a precise distance, but that is very minor. It only takes a few extra seconds and in no way affect the usability of the tool. I would definitely recommend this tool.

Useful but clumsy
I find that this divider is usable but some what clumsy to use. It is heavy and the pencil is rather "far": from the tip of the divider. It would be better it the pencil holder held the pencil at an angle, so that the tip of the pencil is closer to the metal tip. However it does enable me to scribe a curve shape on a flat board. For the low price, it serves most of my needs.

Five Stars
Nice dividers, need to keep them oiled or they will oxidize. Heavy duty, can with-stand job sites.

Oily Junk
I expected a simple, functional, instrument. Instead I received a clumsy, badly machined and fastened item, made out of carbon steel. Since it is carbon steel, they saturate it in oil for the long distance from India; otherwise it will rust on sight. I wouldn't buy this again at half the price.

These are heavy duty and well made. I sharpened the ends to an even finer point and use them to mark wooden pieces that I'm turning. The work great as a pencil compass as well.

Tips are not accurately ground.
Item was rusty and did not give any indication of a precision tool. After dressing the tips with a grinder the Dividers are acceptable.
