Great sounding speaker!!
For some reason the Celestion Alnico Ruby seems to get heavily overshadowed by the Alnico Blue and Alnico Gold. I have no doubt that the Blue and Gold are great, however I don't own either of those (yet). But I recently installed a 16ohm Alnico Ruby in my 2x12 HB Horizontal Cab (that I use with my 60W Handmade Phaez head) replacing the one of the 2 Celestion Vintage 30s that were factory installed in the Cab. Night and day difference!! Yes, the Ruby is not voiced like the Blue or Gold, it's warmer and not as Bright. But most of my Amps (Fenders, Vox AC30 w/greenbacks) are Bright amps. The Ruby does a great job, imo, of bringing some warmth to the sound without sacrificing nice highs - but without getting that "ice-pick" sound. I'm on the fence about leaving the other V30 in the Cab or replacing it with either a G12H Creamback or another Ruby. Or I may just leave it as is and through my extra cash at putting an Alnico Blue in my AC30 so I'll have the Blue/Greenback combination which I have been advised also sounds great.Either way, don't turn your nose up at the Celestion Alnico Ruby! It's got all the great qualities of Celestion's Alnico line, just with a slightly different voicing than most people expect. I would happily buy 2 or 3 more if I had unlimited cash to throw around! Highly recommend this speaker - especially if you want to bring up the mids on an overly Bright Amplifier and add some extra smoothness and warmth!

Cheat Code for Vintage Sweetness and Warmth
I think a lot of online video comparisons of this speaker don’t do it justice. This is because they mostly do not change amp settings when doing the comparison for the sake of uniformity. When I first installed it, it was muddy and there was no high end, but just some simple twists of the knob unlocks the beauty of this speaker. The speaker clears up and the high end is back. You gotta adjust your amp to accommodate this speaker because it is quite different to the Blue and Gold, both of which I can find to a bit a bit shrill, and doesn’t accommodate some drive/distortion pedals well. I think this was made to accommodate folks like me, who find the Blue and Gold too shrill. It had a beautiful top end that has that vintage sweetness you find in some vintage amps. It has that similar Alnico feel and chime to the Blue and Gold, but in my opinion is more catered to people who appreciate a more vintage sound. I also like how it makes drives and fuzzes more creamy and tames the harsh edges. I love this speaker!

Do not buy this speaker!
This is the dullest, most unimpressive speaker I have ever tried... Nothing like the other celestions. The highs are nonexistent no matter how bright the amp is set. Doesn't matter. It simply will not play highs, Period.

Massive upgrade
Excellent packaging - received heavy item with zero issues.I installed this into a new cabinet from Mojotone - fit like a glove and sounds awesome.I use it with my practice pedal board through a MicroDark amp - a vast improvement over my previous 8" speaker. Can't wait to run my 35W Marshall amp through it.
