Big A Bowie
12/25/24 - As many have noted in their reviews, The cut in the guard is way over sized, so the guard it NOT a good fit as is. I discovered the reason or at least one of the reasons the cut in the guard is to large. The grind for the handle tang tapers, starting at the butt end and ending at the blade (see the scribe marks in picture ) It tapers down about 3/16 of a inch. Which to get the guard over the handle, the cut has to bigger than it needs to be. Soldering it to the blade is a no-go proposition, to big of a gap to fill in. So I filled in the guard (cut) with solder and will re-cut it. I gave thought to grinding it down for a hidden tang, but this blade is thick and it would take more disk, belts and time than the knife is worth. So as we say but may forget, I will update when it's finished.Update 01/04/25.I am in my last stages of working on this blade. Just as a side note, the handle scales I ordered for it came and these scales are way to nice for this blade, this was going to be a knock around knife, nothing fancy, not for this. I lucked out on the scales. They came from Bell forest products, these scales are darn near "presentation grade" figured walnut, (beautiful wood) $7.00. Not going on this knock around back yard blade. I'm thinking now, just canvas micarta, or some kind of epoxy resin scales. Now as the guard goes, If you have one and it is just sitting there waiting on you to figure out a way to fix the guard. Try this, file the guard cut as straight as you can. Tape it to the blade just like you want it. Center it up and tape it good on the handle side, used the tape as a dam. Mix you some epoxy and use gold micia powder, mix it in your epoxy to color it. You can try silver, gold and/or white, mix it till you match the guard and or the blade color, (or you like the color). To help fill and or hide the gap. And epoxy it to the blade, this will fill the gaps and secure the guard to the blade . Don't forget to clean the epoxy from the blade side, use acetone on a cotton cloth to help clean it up. Not a perfect fix but it will be a good one. It's a $20.oo dollar blade, not sure if it is worth all the work if already done to it. I will say, the pictured examples here are very impressive, I would be happy if mine comes out half as nice. Needs more (cow bell) or polish, but after that I'm done with it.

I have ordered many of these with no complaints at all
The media could not be loaded. All the grind lines and the actual knives itself are all really nice and symmetrical to each other

Guard doesn't fit
Good weight to the knife but the guard is way too big for this blade. As you can see, I placed a dime in the extra room of the guard and then a quarter to show how much larger the guard is compared to the blade. The opening of the guard is also jagged and leaves no room to correct. If the edge was filed to smooth out the room would increase and be worst to fit.

Big blade
Blade came with no marks or flaws, even edge bevel and took a razor edge. I took the edge down to a 23 degree bevel (it was around 30 degrees as delivered) and it seems to be some decent steel. Use cobalt drill bits if you're going to drill your own pin holes and work your way up for larger holes. I didn't use pilot holes for the 3/16" holes, but for the large center pin I used 3/16", 1/4", then 5/16" and had no issues. I used 3/8" slabs of ebony for the scales over .030" red G10. The hefty handle doesn't look out of place with a blade this size and gives a solid grip. The brass guard polishes nicely after modification (necessary for the sheath I used). I'm currently waiting for my third one to be delivered and I'll buy more as long as I can get them.

Practice Blade
I'm not a knife maker, but i sell hybrid material and ordered this to cheaply showcase my knife scales. The blade was great with no visible defects! However the brass guard was not strait or flat and needed removed before i could attach the scales. After a quick re-shaping, the rest of the build was enjoyable! I've bought a few knives from this vendor, they are affordable practice and make good gifts once done!

Quality control issuez
I got this product to make a knife for my dad. The cutting edge has HUGE nicks, hollow grind bevels are at the wrong angle , and uneven from plunge to tip. The brass guard is so loose, with massive gaps, that it can't be used.
