JBL Flip Essential Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Rechargeable Battery, Gun Metal Black

Excellent product for the price.Sound is very good and it's amazing how much the this little thing can fill a room with sound however it does lean seem to be V shaped in sound profile leaning towards bass a little but this will probably suite most people.The essential version is fine for me as I wanted something small to use on trips, in the kitchen and garden etc.If you wanted to link two together for stereo or multiroom etc. I think you would need the slightly more expensive models with more functions.The build quality is pretty solid which I expected from a JBL product and although there's probably other similar products about for less money again I feel this is a brilliant package of build quality, battery life, water resistance and a good sound.

Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas.. waterproof speaker with good reviews.. can't go wrong right?RIGHT!I'm amazed at how good these are. They aren't the be all and end all in hi-fi but for what they are I doubt you'll find something better. And somehow they manage to get genuine bass, thats controlled, out of the small unit. Sound is superb, set-up is quick and easy, very well made/solid and just the right size to pop in a backpack. Plenty loud enough for the garden or around the house. Highly recommended!

I wanted the best sound possible, from a speaker that was ultra portable (I travel for work and stick this in my suitcase so I can listen to music whilst away) but didn’t want it to be so expensive that I was frightened if breaking it.Brilliant sound, construction and easy use and looks pretty cool!

Best sound quality battery life and bit expensive but well worth it. I have owned more than a few Bluetooth speakers in my time and this is the best by a long way will be buying another for when this one eventually gives up before they stop selling it. It is that good 👍 😌 very happy

Great little speaker, easily fills a gym even when not at full volume! It does have a lot of bass so if that's not your thing this probably isn't for you. Also the bluetooth range isn't the best. Overall I'm very happy with it, good sound quality, decent price and the little carry loop is super useful.

Update to 4 star review November 2022:Amazon swiftly sent me a replacement speaker & I have been using it regularly ever since. There have been no issues with the power button on the replacement.As with my previous Flip Essential, I found the sound quality via Bluetooth play to be excellent from the off & if anything it has improved even more since the speaker has "burned in". However, the audio quality is nowhere near as good when playing music via an AUX cable. I've no idea why, but I'm sure someone brighter than me could come up with a technical reason for this.With regards to battery life, I was a bit concerned that as this is an older Flip device, it may have been sat on a storeroom shelf for a while before I bought it & the battery would have degenerated through lack of use. I need not have worried, as after giving it a full charge for the first time, the speaker played music via Bluetooth for 18 hours & 43 minutes, which is more than acceptable. The speaker wasn't even set a a very low volume level either.Original 1 star review from May 2022:The speaker arrives partially charged & I tested it for about 2 hours, connected by both via Bluetooth & via an AUX cable. The audio quality was very impressive & surpassed my expectations for what it a relatively small speaker.My problems began when I had finished my testing, as I was not able to power off the speaker. I left the speaker charging overnight & in the morning I found that 4 out of 5 battery power lights were solid, with the 5th one still flashing (which I assumed meant it was still charging?). The power "button" was no longer illuminated, so at least the speaker had auto powered off. I disconnected the speaker, but irrespective of how long I touched the power "button" for, the speaker would not power on.I have requested a replacement Flip Essential, so I will update my review when it arrives.

For a small speaker I'm impressed

Purchased this for use in the garden instead of plugging in a mains radio. After some searching looking at all the various options decided on the JBL Essential as it was the best I could find given price, where it was being used and ease of connection to either my phone or Alexa. Not sure of battery life as it really hasn’t been used long enough from full charge to determine but appears to be a good buy.
