Amelia Bedelia Chapter Book #6: Amelia Bedelia Cleans Up Paperback – Illustrated, March 3, 2015

My daughter (now 9 yrs old) loves these books. She has always been a bit of a slow reader and teachers have brought it to our attention since she started school. She LOVES these books and will read without whining (score!!). I think they have helped develop her love to read. And it's fun when she tells me little snippets of funny parts. Keep them coming Parish!

As a mom who used to read Amelia Bedelia, I wasn't sure about these newer versions, but my 7 year old daughter absolutely loves them. She has read some to me and they are wonderfully written! She wants more!

Awesome book for kids, the 10 year old who doesn't like to ready, will ready these books without me reminding her to read!

Amelia Bedelia and her friends clean up a vacant lot in order to build a clubhouse, but once the lot is neat, its owner decides to implement a few plans of her own. With an eye-catching cover, plenty of illustrations, and a generous font size, this makes a good early chapter book. The plot itself is a bit absurd in spots, but many readers have come to expect that from Amelia Bedelia books. It’s amusing when Amelia takes so many clichés literally, although a few are obscure enough to be unfamiliar to some students, and those might require a little explanation from an adult. While this one stands on its own okay, it would likely make more sense when read after the first five in the series.

My grand-daughter loves these books. She has read some of them in school and could not wait to start with the new ones she got.

Review by G., 5.5 years old: The most surprising thing in this book is that Amelia Bedelia, Heather, and Holly all cleaned up the empty lot to make a tree house, and what Mrs. West then did.I loved their tree house in the community park. That was my favorite part, because there was a fountain and a rock climbing wall, and Doris and Pete were there.
