Perfect kneeboard.
I'm a private IFR rated pilot who flies a mixture of IFR and VFR for a total of about 150 hrs/yr. This is the third one of these kneeboards I've owned. I love them. After a few years the elastic leg band stretches and wears out and the fabric on the slanted pocket where I clip 3-4 pens starts to wear thin. I love the three ring plastic sleeves. It allows me to keep the check lists I use most often handy and organized. The clip board is a good size and gives a stable writing surface. I keep spare paper and pens in the slanted pocket. I used to use it for charts and plates too, but I rarely use paper any more since I use a yoke mounted iPad mini.

Great, BUT……
This is the third Kneeboard I’ve purchased. I love all the pockets, the material, and the ease of use. It really is a great Kneeboard for pilots. Unfortunately as of today, all three have had the little tab on the metal clamp break off. This needs to be improved. As per the note, a friend is going to put a rivet in it and I hope it stays. If it breaks a fourth time I will not be purchasing another one of these.

Overall this is a great kneeboard. The back plate is made of aluminium ...
The only real pet peeve about this kneeboard is that it doesn't have a zipper pocket for essential documents such as your pilot's license/medical. I resolved this by taking an old approach plastic insert and putting my license/medical in there and then shoving it into the left sleeve insert while it was attached to the ring binder. Overall this is a great kneeboard. The back plate is made of aluminium and is very rigid. Even better you can fit your ipad mini in the middle flap in front of the back plate with no issues(make sure you face your ipad upside down so it doesn't overheat and you can charge it!)I was even able to put a backup sectional behind the aluminium plate and still had no issues. Ipad retained its touch sensitivity even through the plastic insert which is a definite plus. Use a dry erase marker if you want to mark on the front or the sheets with easy cleanup. I am currently training on R22's and for the most part this kneeboard isn't too large to use in the compact R22 environment. Sometimes the left hand sleeves can rub against your wrist if you have to raise collective but it's pretty easy to ignore that. If your looking for a new kneeboard for IFR training this guy wins hands down. The leg strap is well thought out and I'm pretty sure it will fit any leg size even if your riding a chicken! (j/k) Great product, jeppesen creates quality products and I look forward to buying more of their stuff in the future.

Quality not what it used to be. Any other unit might be better than this POJ
I've had this kneeboard for just over a month, and the strap just came away from it...seems they cut back on quality/changed supplier, and only one line of stitching was used!! Unfortunately I lost the previous one I've had for over 10 years, and upon closer inspection, I can see that the stitching for the chart rings will probably come undone as well. The Velcro hook straps are ok but the loops are weaker than water.Barely holds with tension when wrapped around leg, and comes undone without much effort. Also sub-par at holding itself together when the strap is used to secure/close the kneeboard when not in use.If you're handy with needle and thread or have access to a sewing machine, you will definitely need to put those skills to use to get any utility out of this. Such a shame this went downhill.

Like it so much that I bought this one for ...
I'm a VFR pilot but have used this kneeboard for years because the 3-rings allow me to have custom check lists and notes right where I need them for quick access. Like it so much that I bought this one for my son who is learning to fly - he likes it too!

Finally one that fits!!
Is working much better than the previous one I bought. Its slimmer, so it doesn't get in the way of reaching the trim wheel in the C172. The diagonal right pocket allows you to slide in refolded sectional/TAC but still allows it to stick out the top. Many of the other kneeboards have a pocket that you have to slide the map in sideways, meaning you have to refold the map specifically to fit the pocket which isn't usually tall enough. The long kneeboards that are supposed to get around this interfere with the cockpit controls. I'm not sure why more kneeboards aren't designed like this one.

Item failed after three uses
The kneeboard function as one would expect, but the level used to open the clamp on the clipboard broke after only 3 uses. That renders the clipboard almost useless.
