Q: what's the maximum number of panels connected in series?

Flexible solar panels can be connected in series with a voltage system of up to 700V. This solar panel is 18V. That is about 38 solar panels in series.

Q: is the 200W flexible panel one unit... or is it 2 * 100 W panels.. if 1 panel at 200W is it still 540mm * 1175mm

200w is 2 x 100w panels. Each panel attaches to the internally sited controlbox separately, by a black power cable. Instead of trying to find a suitable sized grommet for the cable hole, I used 'Everbuild Stixall extreme power' gap filling adhesive sealant, its brilliant stuff & I used it (as well as bolts) to stick my panels to my trailer roof. you'll need a caulking gun to use it though

Q: can you mount this inside the windscreen?

As long as there is unlimited access to the sun /daylight I can't see why it would not work satisfactorily. On a previous boat I used a different solar panel under the windscreen and that worked well. In my case the panel is mounted on the coach roof and it works well.

Q: How many cables go from the solar panel to the control unit ? Need to get a suitable gland for the caravan roof to admit the wire(s).

As shown in the picture, there is 1 main black cable leading from the back of the solar panel. The Black cable has a waterproof (screw to together) joint in it, so you don't need to pull the cable all the way through any hole that you make, but you will need a a hole and grommet that is bigger in diameter than the cable diameter, to accomodate it. I used a clear silicon gap adhesive called 'Ever Build Stixall extreme power' this is awesome stuff, available in a range of colours - white, grey, black, brown & clear - and sticks to almost anything and makes a waterproof flexible seal, so use some of this with a caulking gun, instead of hunting down a correct sized grommet. There are fitting videos on youtube if you get stuck sorting out the control box and attaching leisure batteries to the control box.
