the wire that comes with the dog fence is terrible. got tired of fixing that cheap wire. This wire looks like it will hold up a lot longer

I've enclosed several acres with this using a commercial radio dog fence system (similar to Invisible Fence) and it works fine. Note this is multi-strand, not single wire as I'd hoped. My installer said multi-strand is fine. He also said this is appropriately insulated for either being buried or running along a fence.

While this works well, we would have preferred solid core wire. Failed to read the full description-our fault. Wire jacket is thick, I expect it will hold up well. A little more work to splice stranded to our existing solid.

I purchase this wire as a 4th replacement for my electric dog fence... The first 20awg wire was destroyed when I had the lawn airated.... The second line was destroyed when I installed my lawn irrigation sprinkler system... Third line was destroyed when we installed an inground pool over the summer... This time I decided to go with something a little stronger... 20awg is easily cut.. this line is very sturdy... I feel good about it lasting many years. I only wish it was a different color then black.. it would be easier to find in the dirt when cutting... other then that... I am very happy

Ad says stranded wire. Was shipped solid wire. Had to return the wire. Pet stuff warehouse seemed kind like space cadets when dealing with them by email. they don't stock stranded wire.

I was initially disappointed to find this cable is stranded, rather than solid. In hindsight, it would have been impossible for me to manage as I needed to create a couple twisted pair sections of my boundary. It twists nicely using the drill technique with a little practice. Just be sure you have stakes handy to secure the two ends once twisted. If you let it loose, it will twist around itself until you have a tangled mess. Very satisfied with the product in spite of the fact I thought it was solid wire. Thank God I was wrong!

Much better than the flimsy wire that came with the fence unit

If you're going to install a dog fence yourself, don't use the wire that comes with the kit (I bought mine at Home Depot). Upgrade right away to this heavier gauge wire. I fought with the weefy 20 gauge for over a year. It doesn't hold up to the environment. I've had this wire installed for two weeks now, and the change in reliability is incredible. I'm sure it will be as good five years from now.
