Fromann 2 Piece 117 mm Springs Replacement for Recliner Chairs and Sofas

Brilliant, i was dubious about replacing the springs on my reclining settee and Armchair but decided to take the task on, really easy to fut using a pair of long nose pliers and the settee and chair are good as new. So pleased with these springs, recommend for all those people who must be wondering how to repair their broken recliners.

I wanted to fix my neighbour's recliner for her because even though it is quite old - she finds it very comfortable. The problem was a broken footrest spring, which prevented it from fully closing when not in use. The Fromann spring was a perfect match for the broken one that was hanging off (middle spring, 2nd image) However, whilst I could determine the position of the front anchoring point, it was less easy to determine precisely where it connected. I then decided to turn detective and photographed the underside - which had a lot of product codes on it. Then, I emailed Sherborne Upholstery ( based in Bradford) and attached some images of the chair and its codes. The wonderful sales manager responded incredibly quickly and was able to tell me that the chair was 24 years old, also that in spite of there being holes on both sides for springs, Sherborne manual recliners only have a spring on one side (the same side as the black control button). She also provided me with a photograph and diagram explaining precisely the location of both anchoring points - along with helpful hints as to how to fit it (image 3) After much effort, sweat and tears (and not a little muttering under my breath) the spring was installed and my neighbour's footrest was able to click back into place once more. Frankly, if the spring had been effortless to install, it would have been equally capable of falling out again and be of very little practical use. Although I only needed one spring - at least I know that I have a spare! NB please wear safety gloves and goggles when attempting an installation like this - and use long nosed pliers and twine to stretch the hook to meet its second anchoring point. To conclude, these springs are completely worth the money and of a very high quality. The look on my neighbour's face when she knew that she could enjoy her chair once more was absolutely priceless!
