In my opinion (flavor-wise), this is the best-dehydrated food that I have tried. And I have tried a lot of different brands and types! The only downside is cost versus portion size. I believe there are ten servings per can which comes to about $7.00 USD per serving at the time that I purchased it. However, if you can afford it, this stew tastes just like real beef stew and has a shelf life of 10+ years. It would be priceless in an emergency situation. It is so good, I will open a can every few months just because I like it so much! It tastes better than Dinty-Moore brand stew by a long shot. And a can weigh's next to nothing.

I actually bought this can for emergency prep, but for camping I've gotten the individual packs for about $10. which hold two servings (2.5 servings for me). Texture is a bit chewier than homemade stew but weighs almost nothing so it's a happy trade-off. I could eat this any day, it is quite tasty - most Mountain House products are, I just wish they weren't so fond of bell peppers so prevalent in their other products. Plus can has a 25 year shelf-life so will probably outlive me! ;-)

The taste is as if it was fresh when rehydrated.
