My experience with this jig so far isn’t good. On the one I received, the center block was not only off center, it was also not square to the clamping faces. When I installed it on a piece of ¾” stock, the center block measured .137” from the clamp face at one end and .201” at the other. So it was out well over 1/16” in the space of under 5”. I also noticed that the guide holes for the sliding alignment pins were oversized to the point that it allowed that clamping face to rock back and forth a lot. Perhaps that is intensional but there is no way it would ever serve to keep the two clamping faces parallel to each other. As another reviewer noted, there is nothing in the instructions that mentions an alignment or centering process. The tightening screw also seemed to bind in spots and had a gritty feel to it.One star because this thing will not work the way it is. So I placed the fixture back in its box (genuine laminated toilet paper) and sent for a replacement from Amazon. Hopefully it will perform as promised and if it does I will update my review with a higher score.Edit: Happy to report my replacement jig seems to be good and i will bump it up to four stars. The packaging on the replacement however, was even worse than the first one. Amazon shipped it in one of their padded envelopes and its a good thing it held together, because the tool package was split wide open and everything was loose in the envelope.

There is a hole on the jig labeled 7/16", this is the size hole I needed, however it will not fit a 7/16 drill bit. I had to put the jig in a vice and use a drill press to bore the hole out so it would fit a 7/16" bit. I don't know how the company that produced this jig messed this up. Pretty pathetic. Otherwise it seems to be working decently once I fixed the issue, however I don't have high hopes for it in the long term if something as simple as making a correct sized hole was too difficult for the producer.

This doweling jig really makes securing certain wood joinery a snap.It is,in my opinion,able to get stronger joints than using biscuits,although there's occasion for using either.Before,there were times that I would put joints together with countersunk screws then cover their heads with wood putty.This often resulted in cabinets appearing to have been put together with wood dowels because no matter how much I tried the putty always came out a little different when finish was applied.

I received this in a timely manor, just a day or two, but upon opening the package, the contents were all strewn about, paperwork torn & crumpled, the jig itself was scratched & pitted. I could have gotten a used one on eBay cheaper. with that said, the tool is nothing more than steel parts, so the performance is not affected, but they can do better than this.

You have to re-center it occasionally, by tightening it up while the locking washer is loose. However this also gives you an opportunity to set off-center holes, which I have found useful when joining different width pieces of wood and wanting one flush surface.

Works great except it was missing one of the 3/8 (8mm) sleeves. Contacted them and within a couple hours they sent out the missing part. Great customer service.

I put up floating shelves and this tool was a must have. Allowed me to drill precise straight holes.It came centered out the box along with directions in the event it wasn’t centered.
