Lantern is very bright and will more than suffice for power outages as long as you don't run it on high. It has four settings that it will cycle through. Brightest(1) lasts 1.5 hours. Setting 2 lasts 3.5 hours, setting 3 (low mode) will last 8 hours and setting 4 (night light) will last 72 hours. This is according to the labeling on the box. The night light is still very bright and would likely be the setting I would use. It generates enough to cover your living room with an ample amount of light. Setting 4 is much more dim than a 100 watt bulb but more than bright enough to carry you through a power outage. I have several lanterns - this is the latest one. The thing to remember about any battery powered lantern is to check the batteries frequently(every 6 months or sooner) because batteries will leak as they start to age and the acid will corrode the battery contacts. This lantern is a gem, compact enough to store on a closet shelf, and more than bright enough to light the room - if I were you I'd buy it.

These LED battery operated lanterns are fantastic! I have since bought a total of four of these for our home and two for my elderly father who lives separately on his own. In case of a power outage at night when you need to see things to start your backup generator or when your generator is not running and you'd like to still see to read or do things in your home before going to bed, these high lumen output lanterns are perfect. They have adjustable settings to reduce the lumen output and extend the life of four (4) needed D Cell batteries as appropriate. Although each lantern comes with four included batteries, I also bought high quality Duracell D Cell batteries from Amazon and used them instead. Highly recommended if you need indoor or outdoor portable LED lighting with superior light quality. Buy with confidence!

The best battery lantern I have ever bought. This lantern turns nigh into day. Super bright. I live in a rural area. No lights outside and frequent power outages. Had an outage the first night I received it. The on button is so easy to push. Yes I have hands that are affected with arthritis. Simple. The first push and you get bright light and push again less. 4 settings and easy battery replacement. Durable too. I dropped right out of the box on cement. No damage. It comes with 4 batteries too. I love that it has a handle and turn it upside down and it has a hanging hook. This is a must have for your next camping trip or an outstanding light for your home. I recommend it and personally am buying another.

Awesome! This lantern includes the batteries and they worked just fine! The brightness of this lantern is incredible! It’s great that there is 4 light settings if you want it dimmer. I’m very happy that we have this on hand for the next power outage in our area.

This is a great lamp that offers multiple brightness settings. But the battery connection springs are poorly affixed and will come off while putting the battery compartment cover back on. With that said you can position the battery contact spring on top of the battery and gently close the battery compartment cover and the lamp will work. It really needs better connection tabs so they don't come off.

This is a great little lantern. It's handy to have the variable brightness. It puts out a surprising amount of light on high. I'm very happy with it and will get more!

I've used many lanterns over the years. An old kerosine lantern on hand for blackouts when I was a kid. White gas/propane Coleman's. 6volt incandescents. AA led. Lots of different lights and lanterns for camping, prep for power outage or getting away from light pollution to photograph the night sky, need something hands free to illuminate my work area. This thing is super impressive. Idk if it's actually 1500 lumens but it did light up my living room. So I took it out on a little excursion. It did everything I asked of it and more. First thing is the build. It's all plastic except the hangers. Those are metal. But the octagonal edges are a rubberized materiel that makes it nonslip and combined with its weight the lantern feels robust. The eve the photos were taken it was raining off n on and it handled the wet just fine. Don't know that of submerge it but it was just fine with a little rain. It's very durable. Upon returning from my excursion I had all my gear on a cart which caught a door edge and everything on the cart came down. The lantern was on the top and fell 3 feet to the concrete floor. The battery compartment lid came off and batteries went everywhere. Dang it. I just got it, now it's broke? Nope, I put the batteries back in and it fired up as new. Terrific. It's worth the money. It puts out great light. It's tough. Looks cool and I'll be buying a couple more.

A fantastic camping lantern that runs on batteries. Has a button to push giving you four levels of brightness. Includes the four batteries and a hanger. Word of caution, it is recommended that you do not look directly at the led panels as they can harm your eyes. Don't let your children look at it directly either. Packaged nice for shipping and arrived on time. I highly recommend this product. I should add that I now have two.

25% of batteries that came with the item are weak. I have to replace them

WOW!! I was not expecting the light to be this bright! I am so pleased with this! I live tucked into the woods a little bit, and even with outside electrical lights on the house, I don't like going outside at night without a lantern. I have small dogs and I like to walk around the yard with them at night while they do their business, and this light is incredible as it lights up everything. It's nice to be able to see what could be lurking in the woods! This makes me and the dogs feel safer. This will be fantastic during power outages too, and I am so glad that I bought it.
