Anki OVERDRIVE Expansion Track Launch Kit

Cool Accessory for Anki Overdrive!
This is a really fun addition to your anki overdrive track. I'm not sure if since the other reviewers purchased and reviewed it if Anki has made an update, but I find that my Overdrive starter cars, as well as guardian, run on it just fine. They scan it easily as well, as long as your not racing the AI in the first set of preliminary races. Some notes before you buy:1. This is really fun and cool to play with, but you will have to adjust the braces under the ramps based on the type of surface you have the track on. On carpet, the standard placements don't work well, and the cars tend to bounce a lot, sometimes leaving the track entirely (about 15% of the time). Moving the landing brace towards the end of the landing piece seems to fix this. Play with it a bit, some trial may be required.2. Make sure you keep the cars wheels and the track pieces clean! This is imperative, otherwise the cars have no stick when they land, and won't grab the next piece of track properly. Simple cleaning before the race is perfect.I would have rated this a 5 if the pieces where a bit more sturdy, or the jump sections could be placed a bit farther apart, allowing a configuration that would have you jumping over another section of track, just incase of fall off's, which seem to happen mid-jump when they do happen.

Well work the price for a nice addition to racing
I was surprised that there were so many negative reviews. The Jump/Launch Kit worked without any issues. I did add guard rails kit to the landing portion of the track to keep the cars from ‘Slipping off the track”. Well work the price for a nice addition to racing.

Great fun for the whole family!
Seriously, this is so fun! The whole family can play together and it is the one thing that always comes out when the boys have friends over. Easy download of the ap, great customer service when we had an issue. Highly recommend!

fun set for preteens
Anything and everything ANKI Overdrive was a big hit this past Christmas. highly recommend by my 12 year old nephew. allowed him more flexibility with the track and thereby held his interest longer.

Cars have a mind of their own
The product itself is not great. The cars fly off the track every time you use it. Also, you can get maybe 3-4 races out of it before you have to charge the cars again.

Santa delivered this and son loves it. I think it is cool the other car actually races you so there isn't a need for two people.

Counterproductive for most track set ups
First things first, Anki Overdrive is a genuinely amazing product. The family love almost everything about it, it's a lot of high-tech fun and I feel it to be worth the money. That said, the launch section really is the weakest link (literally) in the package and it can let all that fun down. As part of a complex track set up you'll honestly have a better time without this piece than with it. That's because 50% of the time, no matter how carefully you've set things up, the cars will fly off track or flip over at this point - which really breaks the flow of the game. Without the launch section you can, if you're lucky, go entire games without having to intervene once by hand. With it however and you can guarantee you'll be doing so near constantly. So why 3 stars and not 1? Well this is because if you avoid adding it to a complex, twisting track and build a straight, boring track centred solely around this jump instead, on some non-combative mode like Time Trial, then it does become quite a good piece. It takes skill to line up centrally in order to make the jump (perhaps utilising a boost to ensure success) and is quite satisfying when you do. Some cars like it better than others (Thermo seems to nail it most of the time for instance) but generally it's quite a fun and achievable challenge for all. As long as the jump is the focal point.Overall then don't expect a piece you can slot in to any random track to add interest and variety, it will turn out to be a fun-killer not a fun-enhancer in that context. But if you want to add a real challenge to a very specific type of track then it's worth getting.

Avoid!
Not good enough. It actually ruined my experience.I was so excited...There are too many restrictions on how to use it: i.e. you need straight pieces before and after. The cars most of time don't figure there is a kit while scanning the track. So the 1st one lets say detects it but the one that follows falls in!Or the cars are bumper to bumper while scanning so when the 1st tries to turn the one behind pushes it over! The track itself has manufacturing issues.Mine at least, was slightly concave and the risers wouldn't hold it snugly. So while the cars jump on the risers move eventually losing the right set-up.I raised it with Anki, their response was initially copy/paste standard stuff. When I insisted I got not much further. The rest of the kit is great though...*The app also has issues....*

The jump kit is great we love it
The jump kit is great we love it, you need a straight piece after the jumps landing piece and to position the supports for the jump as close to each end as possible and you'll land nearly every time, if you never came off it wouldn't require any skill. So don't listen to those negative reports. Follow the two simple steps I've said in setting it up and you'll always put it into every track layout.

This adds great fun to all tracks but we have found that it means cars come off a bit more often. With some planning of the track and careful driving you can avoid this but the small ones don't tend to do that so well - hence only the 4 stars

Jump is rubbish, save your money
DOESNT WORK......save your money on the jump for the Anki track, the cars get confused & can't do the jump.....waste of £30, the track itself is fabulous but the jump sucks
