This is a very high spec machine and offers good value for money.It has a built in walking foot equivalent called the dual feed (which is the same as Pfaff’s IDT technology) and helps with sewing soft fine fabrics as well as quilting thick sandwiches of fabric. You can interchange and use the Pfaff IDT feet to increase your sewing options as Bernette has a smaller range of optional feet available.According to a Bernina dealer on PatternReview.com, this is the same machine inside the casing as the Pfaff Ambition but uses the Bernina software interface, which also explains why you can use the Pfaff IDT feet.The machine uses the same basic Bernina software as the current high spec Bernina sewing machines so it offers a very good user experience. However, if you’re a bit of a technophobe, you’ll need to put a fair bit of effort into learning how to use the machine in order to get the most out of it, so you might want to consider paying for 1:1 lessons too. There is a handy Bernette Sewing Machine Workbook that you can easily find online and download for free. There’s also a Bernette Embroidery Workbook too. They’re very helpful in walking you through all the different options on a step by step basis and much easier than working through the detailed manual that can also be downloaded online. Finally, there’s a Bernette 79 Facebook group should you ever get stuck.

Sadly, the third party seller could not track this machine and ‘lost it’. I got a full refund and purchased it from the Sewing Studio in Redruth, Cornwall instead.Takes a bit of getting used to, especially with no foot lift bar at the back, that said it is a great machine and versatile having both sewing machine and embroidery capabilities. I already had the B70 and got the 79 as a backup for embroidery. Should I need it. Love it.

Machine looks gorgeous. However, a simple straight line of stitching pulls the top thread too much leaving a nasty knot on a locking stitch. No adjustment of the tension seems to rectify the issue.Didn't try embroidery. If it can't do simple sewing, I wouldn't want to waste the fabric and thread.

The media could not be loaded. Just started embroidering and did research before purchasing. Love the fact that it is both sewing and embroidery machine combo. Easy to use and set up. Love the fact that it come with the extension table for sewing and numerous presser feet’s. It embroiders really well.
