Solid Choice
I'm actually really happy to have this in since there are fires and power outages right now. Just last night, I had a power outage. So far, the LED is very bright. The radio aspect of it works fine. I think the mix of reviews is just due to geography. The sound quality overall is great and it's easy to finds radio stations for me at least. In regards to build quality, it's solid. If you have ape strength though, be more careful with the hand crank and the antenna. I know people who are rough with everything and get frustrated and blame whatever they broke for breaking lol. I love the design too. It's minimalistic and the color scheme is like a bumble bee. Not some ugly yellow, but a yellow that compliments the black. Aside from the radio, lights, and hand crank, I have some other features to test out. Those were just what I thought were the most important so far. I'll edit later.

Don't let the low price fool you!
This little radio has surprised me. I wasn't expecting much for a $20 radio but I am very pleased. It's reception is great on all bands. It has multiple charging options as well as two battery options (internal battery or battery compartment). The weather alert feature has successfully notified me of several severe storms which is very helpful living here in "Tornado Alley." Are there higher quality emergency radios out there?....of course but probably not at this price. I will definitely be buying more of this model for family and friends. Well worth a mere $20!!!

Works, though antenna is short and weather station isn't clear.
The charge doesn't last long, though the crank works. Maybe it was designed with the assumption that people would just put batteries in it, and not use the USB charger. Also it doesn't pull in a very strong signal, probably because the antenna is so short. I can hear its siren going off loud and clear, but then I'm lucky to hear the specifics from the weather service. The radio works, too, if you want to use it for music.

junk
You get what you pay for. I was very unhappy with sound quality from the start but passed it off for features. I have used it only several times and it broke. The wind up charger does not work. Solar is a joke. Its a very basic battery powered poor quality radio with a flash light. I will buy a name brand and spend the money on the replacement. OH reception stinks.

Quality Emergency Radio.
I’ve purchased several radios for emergency 72 hour kits. This Kaito brand is my favorite and seems to be the best quality.

Won't recommend it.
Nice look, bad working. Very low volume.

Good luck with this unit
A very inexpensive emergency radio so I didn't really expect much but terrible internal assembly quality. Poor soldering. USB charge port was intermittent so I opened the radio and discovered the USB charge connector was poorly soldered. Also found several other components needing reflow including the volume pot (control) which caused intermittent sound when the unit received light taps on its enclosure. Just setting it down caused disrupted sound. FM reception quality is fair. AM reception seems okay but sound suffers from a "digital" background noise when listening at lower volume levels. Weather reception is good. No earphone jack but I will add one if I keep the radio. I was going to purchase several of these for the family but decided to buy one and see if it was any good. I would not recommend unless you are an electronics technician with troubleshooting and soldering skills.

Reliable and Lightweight
Very lightweight and has good sound. I tried it with the hand crank only, no batteries, and it held the charge and played the radio without issue. Controls are easy to access and it's small enough to store for emergencies.
