Contact Cement Alternative for Van Build
Building a camper van and needed adhesive with tackiness for all surfaces from low to high temps. Normally 3M contact cement is used for installation of underfelt carpet and insulation, but I'm no pro, and contact cement is one chance to get it right. So took a chance on this silicone based adhesive as I figured it may give me more time to get pieces lined up correctly. Did experiment using piece of scrap panel underlayment and aluminum insulation foam. Spread silicon adhesive with drywall joint knife to a uniform later, placed carpet on top, it stuck without pressing, removed to adjust, then reinstalled, pulled carpet tight on edges, roll pressed carpet into silicone, and let dry for two days. After cure the carpet won't come off any surface without around effort. Scaled up to full panels worked great, easy, and gives enough for adjustments during install. Used about 1 tube of silicone for each 3ftx3ft panel. Even works using sparingly zig zag pattern to stick Thinsulate insulation to walls for sag prevention. Will be using in future for speaker box too.

MasterBuilt Electric Smoker Solution?
My MB MES130 smokers are lucky to last 5 years. The failures are due to moisture intrusion, originating both inside & out, resulting in a failed power supply, digital control panel, and/or heating element. The smoker is covered with a MB outdoor cover when not in use. This sealant is rated for 500F and FDA approved for food contact. I have applied this sealant to all internal panel joints, exterior access panels, and other penetrations. This should minimize moisture damage, and for a $12 caulk tube MasterBuilt should be doing this on their own.
