They are a fun way to introduce non-standard measurement and have rhyming text ...
I am a pre-K teacher and I use the books in this series (How Long, How Heavy) to spark the interest of my students in measurement concepts. They are a fun way to introduce non-standard measurement and have rhyming text so I can touch on multiple curriculum standards in one lesson. These books are not too wordy and have just the right amount of text for my very young students. After reading one of these books, my students anticipated the others with great excitement.

Teacher Approved
I teach first grade and this book is the PERFECT introduction for measuring with nonstandard units. They love the silly comparisons. It also has standard units written in small print at the bottom, so it could also be good for converting units for upper grades!

Great Measurement Book!
Teaching youngsters about non-standard forms of measuring takes new meaning within this book! Students are shown various symbols and how animals, foods and objects are used to measure by height! Great discussion on size and more/less comparisons. A winner! This is part of a series on measurement for children.
