The product met my expectations.

Great book! Lots of very practical details, as well as important safety precautions and info you need to know if you are going to hike the TRT.

Agree with others who have noted this is not helpful for thru-hikers. Key information such as ideal times to go, bear canister vs Ursack, etc., is buried in jokey prose. The list of resupply options assumes that one would have friends with nothing better to do than drop off resupplies at remote roads, and the pack list is completely ridiculous especially for ultralight hikers.

This is probably not the guide you are looking for if you want clear answers on things like mileage, water sources, resupply strategy, and pretty much anything else that really matters when planning a thru-hike. It has some nice photos and info for bikers and equestrians which I can’t comment on because I am neither. The maps are hard to read and not well designed. You have to wade through tons of prose to find the information you need. There is a lot of random general information about beginner outdoorsmanship that I feel was included to make sure novice recreators will not do stupid things. I wish I hadn’t wasted my money thinking this was a guide for people seriously planning to do the whole trail. The author is a good writer and as far as I can tell does not give bad info, so two stars instead of one.

This guide is an indispensable resource for anyone planning a few miles on the TRT, or a full circle. My daughter and I have relied heavily on this book while figuring out the logistics for our thru-hike. There is plenty of advice for mountain bikers too, although that didn't apply to us. Written in a chatty, friendly and entertaining way, I highly recommend this for anyone planning to explore the Tahoe Rim Trail.
