Dickies Men's Painter's Utility Pant Relaxed Fit

Great pants for women who wear this style (and you should!)
These pants are fantastic; they are the perfect casual pants to knock around in, and if you have good styling skills, you can make them work for pretty much anything but a wedding or a funeral.I have an average thin build, some curves, but not "curvy." Five foot five, 125 lbs, my Dickies men's size is 32 x 30 (same as for 874s, but that's a different review). These fit super loose (too loose to wear) when unpacked, I washed and dried them twice in hot water, and high heat, and they shrunk to the perfect fit. I cuff them once.I get compliments on them all the time, and I wear them all the time. It's the best thirty-bucks you will ever spend, I have Banana Republic trousers in my closet at $150 that I pass over in lieu of these. I got the natural color (they are not "yellow" as some reviews have said). The fabric has a nice drape, but is thick enough to not be see through. I almost don't want to tell people about these pants in case they become more known an the price goes up. lol.PS On these and my other Dickies, they are much improved by getting a ripper and taking the Dickies tag off of them. Sorry, Dickies, I'd rather people wonder where I got such cool pants.

GREAT VALUE! My boyfriend loves these work pants! Run small, size up and assume shrinkage.
My boyfriend is very consistently a size 38w 34l. I originally ordered his size and he couldn’t button them. They seem to run 1 solid size small and there’s no stretch. I returned them and later ordered two pairs size 40w 34l. They fit him on the waist. The legs look slightly baggier than the 38w (not baggy enough to catch or trip over though) and he said he actually preferred the range of motion for working on ladders and roofs. These are cotton, shrinkage is a given with washing and drying. In his case the shrinkage made them 100% perfect. Being a painter he is often throwing away and replacing work pants. I’m thrilled that these are inexpensive enough to toss guilt free and repurchase as needed. I can order 2-3 at a time, he’s happy he doesn’t have to try anything on or even go to a store, and they’ll fit. Win win, and win. They seem more durable than other brands. He wears them year round including outside in the summer heat. However, if you’re specifically looking for a super thin lightweight material for extreme heat, these probably aren’t it.As far as the customer question/comment about the "re-stocking fee and returning fee" he was charged, that has changed as of 2020 and was not the case for me. I think that’s important for people to know! I would never purchase a pair of pants with questionable sizing if I knew I would have to pay a 45% return and restock fee. I returned the initial first pair and later purchased the two in the larger size. I wasn’t charged a cent for the return.UPDATE - I came to order these pants, saw my original review, and thought I’d leave an update.. 5 YEARS LATER, I am still re-ordering these pants for my (now husband) for work. He’s lost a lot of weight in the last 5 years but I’m still ordering in one solid size larger than his jeans. Highly recommend

Buy 2 waist sizes up !
Quality of the pants is good . I have been a painting contractor for the last 20 years , and I have always used dickies pants and shorts . I prefer the relaxed fit over the regular straight leg ones as they are easy to move around in and when they shrink it usually leaves plenty of room to stay flexible .Now the waist sizing is way off in these pants . Now I know I have put on a couple of pounds over the years but nothing that going up a half of a waist size shouldn't take care of . I am not overweight by any means I may have a little tiny stomach but not much fat on my body at all with relatively skinny legs . I still wear a size 30 up to a 32 waist in most jeans from Levi's to buffalo David and wranglers . I purchased a 32 waist in these dickies painters pants and I couldn't even get them buttoned !!Most Levi's I purchase a 32 waist in depending on where they manufacture the jeans usually makes a big difference in the waist sizing . Most buffalo David bitton jeans I buy a 30 or 31 waist as they are generously sized in the waist .As for these dickies I even went up to a 34 waist and they still were so tight I could barely breath with them buttoned , you would have thought that I had spent an entire afternoon at an all you can eat buffet before I tried them on , that's literally how tight they were . They were so tight I was surprised the button didn't pop off and Fly across the room .... Lol .I ended up having to go up all the way up to a 36 waist which left me some room , this way when they shrink they aren't cutting off circulation around my waist . Now I have to wear a belt with them and they are much baggier in the legs than I would prefer due to having to size up the waist so much . Although it's the only thing I can do because these painter pants shrink when washed and dryed and trust me they shrink a lot .I remember a few years back these things were sized correctly as I was a 28 waist a few years ago and I use to buy a 30 so I would have the room after they shrunk and they use to fit well . I actually would still need a belt with the 30's but don't mind having a belt at all .Now the sizing is just so way off its amazing , it has to be where they are being manufactured .So I give them 4 stars for quality and comfort , but they get 1 star for sizing so make sure to order up at least 2 full waist sizes to have room after these pants shrink . Or try them on somewhere before purchasing them .

Great for Work!
My husband is a painter & these are the pants he has repurchased time & time again. He usually has a couple pair that he used for 6 months at a time until it's time to purchase new ones (I do laundry often). The knees are reinforced, the fabric thick & the pockets are convenient.

Nice pants
These are one of my favorite pairs of pants and it kills me that I can't wear these more often. They are thick enough to where you cant see through them probably even if wet. Also because they are thick pants they are pretty durable and can take a beating. As long you get the right size they aren't baggy at all and fit perfectly. They fit very comfortably around the waist and cause no discomfort. They also look pretty presentable for work pants as long as you can stay stain free.
