Not as hard as most think to instal great light
The media could not be loaded. Packaged well. The 1s did not return. The other 2 were broken. Not my 1st time buying and installing these lights. But 1st time sending any back lolInstall: You need to have already installed or are installing 5/6 - inch can lights. Install of the light is straight forward. screw in the part. ( power is off )Now with the light the flat wings stay open for 6 inch. But I say to you you might have to adjust cause can lights are not exactly all made the same of to exact size.So for me 5 inch and said to put wing in 1/2 way . well i had to open it more so the cut out slot was visible to fit my can light . Not to hard. Custom fit. Push up and in and twist just a little apposing the direction it the metal wings. . Should be snug. if not pull down open a little more. .Mine worked fine and set up easily .But if you have an issue detect with the hue app first. and name it Then with your smart device. make sure your blue tooth is on in your phone. when doing so.I have the ability to either use Alexa or my hue app. Hint Don't shut it off in the hue app if primary using a voice control. You may get a device not responding. Go into the hue app and turn it on you voice will then respond. Also make sure you leave the switch on Smart devices need switch in on position to function correctly..Yes I have the hue hub. and it is easy to deal with. plug in and go.One more thing in the hue app you can update bulbs and hub. I recommend you do it as soon as your able. especially if your voice control is buggy. You need to leave the light or lights on while updating and it can take some time. But it helped me with a A 19 hue lamp light. All in all I love the lights.I can dim then and brighten as needed. Saving power even. The hue hub and app allow for more ranges of white and soft white.I have the perfect setting for movie nightAnd in my kitchen when cutting veg. or measuring clear light so see the best. Or just 1 light on in the kitchen as a night light or drink run on movie night set low and soft.Love then can you tell I added a video on install. In the Philips bulb review I do I will be putting how to manually add the bulb to hue app. which helps Alexa recognize. similar to add to Alexa app too.

Pricey but worth it
I've been using hue bulbs for years now, and recently moved into a new home that has recessed lighting all over, but no dimmer switches(!) and little ambiance. The light switches are all in terrible spots too boot. I immediately thought of hue as a solution to all those issues, and I was glad to see phillips hue had these available, but at the price I was wary to pull the trigger on 20 bulbs (I was also worried they'd be a pain to install).Well, I'm glad I finally did pull the trigger. The lights took 5 seconds to swap in, and now I can dim and set color schemes for my whole house, and it looks great. I can also turn on just the lights I want on, and not have to have the whole common area turn on. All this with no electrician needed. I'm happy I got these.

Great product. Hard to install with current fixture.
The media could not be loaded. I already had lights in my recessed fixture.I took the torsion springs off each side of my old light.I took a drill bit slightly smaller than the machine screw which was holding the torsion springs on the old light and predrilled a hole on these lights equally distanced apart on both sides. There were little notches all around it. Assuming for venting or something. I just drilled through two of those.I had to use a slightly longer machine screw than the one which was holding the torsion springs on the old lights.Worked like a charm though. I researched for hours looking for an adapter or converter of some kind for either the fixture or the light itself.I really wanted to make these lights work without an alternative solution. I took my chances and it turned out great. Not the greatest advice but that's what worked for me.

Great downlights and so much fun to have the colors!!! Easy to install!
I fell in love with the hue colored lights when I moved. These recessed lights are awesome! I ended up replacing all my recessed lights in my kitchen/living room/deck with these.Installation was very easy (I didn’t need the light socket retrofit adapter - but glad it was included). My original downlights had butterfly/d-clips and I was worried these wouldn’t hold with the clips they have, but so far so good. They connect to the hue app with no issue and I love that I can change the colors.I paired these with the dimmer switches and was able to separate a group of six lights that were on the same switch to two different dimmer switches so I could control my living room and den separately. It was quite an investment, but a good one!!

great color changing light, terrible mounting system.
I think hue lights in general are overpriced; however, it's the closest to "it just works" as I've found yet. Long winter nights are coming, I think these are worth the white warm/cool switching alone. However, I do like adjusting colors for moods. I have my four living room overheads connects with the play sync box and they are a lot of fun at night. The install process isn't difficult just very privative. Would have been much nicer to have the spring retention that I see in most overhead lights. Instead they opted for a pressure fit tab that sticks out. Very difficult to get these flush to the ceiling, they usually have a little gap.

Homerun! These lights are amazing
I bought 4 lights to add to my home theater set up that consists of a Hue Gradient 65" light strip with 4 play bars at the bottom of the TV and a regular light strip at the back of my room. After a software update on the new lights, the whole system works great!!! I set up the ceiling lights with a different group so I can control them separately and then I added all of them to the group that the Echo is in so that I can have them all come on at the same time when I enter room and tell it to turn on the lights. The installation was super easy and they all grip the cans as designed. No issues. Thank you Philips for another great Hue product!
