Good value.
These work well enough. As others have noted, they do not always stick really well, but they don't slide around significantly either. When I put them in, I cleaned the wood stair treads well. Most stuck alright. (They do not have an adhesive backing.) They are made to be a little tacky, but that may be overstated, so that they grip the tread (sort of) and do not easily slide around, but they peel right off (with ease) and leave nothing behind. (They'll go right back down again too.) I have no idea why some stay in place better than others, but I found that moistening them slightly with a damp cloth helped them stay down long enough to, over time, get them to stay flat. (They're folded when packaged, and the folds want to lift until they reflatten over time.) With weight on them, that is, when you step on them, they stay put and prevent slipping. We got them for a small, aged dog that can't see very well, and he was slipping on the bare wooden stairs. He can go up and down them now without any problems thanks to these self-sticking treads. As I said, some still move a little, but by that I mean they slide enough to notice they aren't completely square with the wooden treads. They don't move enough that they don't work, but if you're a bit OCD, like I am, you'll square up the couple that need adjustment regularly, but most people won't even notice--or if they do, they won't care. They are not thick, flush, high quality carpet treads, but they are a great value. I'm sure I'll get my money's worth and then some. They'd probably survive outdoors for a while, but I'd expect their lifespan to be shortened quite a bit. I don't know that to be true, but they are not heavy duty, so I'd expect the weather/ elements to be much harder on them than what they go through indoors, of course.

Good alternative to textured safety tapes
I purchased these because I have my parents living with us and two small pups to prevent slips and falls on the stairs after an incident involving a slip and fall wearing socks. I think everyone knows how slippery wood flooring could get especially if you do not have solid footing on the tread.I did not want to write this review before trying them out for a few months. After about two full months of use by 4 humans and 2 dogs, they have held up remarkably well and the adhesion to wood flooring has been impressive. Not one of the carpet pieces have slipped out of place and have absorbed some of the shock on my dogs from them going down the stairs and they do not slip at all anymore - compared to when I had 4" wide textured safety tape on my stair edge only.If you want a non-slip surface and are willing to give up a little on the looks department, give these a try.

Great product
These worked perfectly for my basement stairs. And they’re plain enough not to be noticeable. Love them. Buying more.

Not fancy but do the trick
These tread carpets stay put and vacuum clean fairly well. The finish isn't super luxurious but for the price point they seem to be a good value, so far. Also like that the beige sort of disappears into the mid-toned/honey wood of my stairs.

Good value
Nice product but the adhesive backing could be easier to remove (very thin and difficult to grasp) and the adhesive itself needs to be stickier.Otherwise a great product!

Ensure wherever you want to put them is clean!
When I received the product it was folded in half in a box smaller than the strips. I suggest they increase the size of the box to the size of the strips, but this may cost more to ship. I took them from the box, stacked them up on a flat hard floor, and placed a box about the same size as the strips on top of them for the night. In the morning they were nice and straight. There are a number of reviews that state this product does not adhere well. Most likely they received the product and slapped it on the stairs. Their not so dust and lint free stairs. If you preform a little prep work they adhere phenomenally, at least to laminate floors. First, I swept the stairs. Next, I filled a bowl with hot water and a touch of dish soap and wiped the stairs with a damp cloth. Dipping and wringing the cloth about every 3 steps. Once dry (took about 1 min), I put a little isopropyl alcohol on a dry cloth and wiped the stairs two at a time, then took off the backing of one strip and stuck it to each step. Then I alcohol wiped the next two steps. This entire process took me about 20mins ish. I do not think you have to use the alcohol but it ensures not water or soap residue is on the step. They have not moved since I put them down and the look very good on the steps. We will see what they look like after a year.

A quick fix to liven up stairs.
This is my second set of these. I got the first box like 4 years ago. I have a big old dog, 2 kids and my husband has a dirty job. The carpets and rugs need to be tough. My first set was red. I have dark stained wood stairs. The old red ones lasted so long. I was sad to see them go. A few had started to separate the fabric from the foam pad. But it was a no question I was so pleased the quality of the first set I had to order again. I went with a lighter shade this time. So easy to clean and maintain. They are tough and a great deal.

Served us well
I installed these on a hard wood staircase to assist an aging dog who was slipping. My husband kept asking me if they were going to ruin the stairs. I assured him, they were not. We had them on approximately 9 months and while they were starting to peel (the carpet from the backing), they served their purpose very well. I took them off today and their was no residue - you cannot tell they were even there. I would give them a 5 star rating, except for the fact that they were starting to wear and would have needed to be replaced. But at less than $50 - well worth it.
