The way to go for an entry level soldering kit!
I can't stand traditional helping hands, so when I was looking for some for a soldering kit for traveling around a bit, these were perfect.I'm an audio engineer that often needs to solder on the go and often times, in awkward places, so these are perfect for me. They break down pretty nice and work really well when they're together. I love being able to clamp it down onto a table which makes it solid as a rock.Great purchase for on the go soldering!

Very high-quality
The four mini goosenecks are very sturdy. They stay where you put them. The clamp is capable of clamping onto very thick work benches. The insulated alligator clips hold items firmly and can easily be rotated to different angles. My first project was to wire up some DB 25 connectors. I used one of the arms to stabilize my hand as I held the soldering iron.

Good product few flaws
Works great. Doesn't really hold position super solidly if you're only grabbing with one clamp, but that's rather picky and I Don think that should detract from it... It's just something you have to work around if you're using it like that. For example, I'm taking photos of a small flower and so I clamp it at the stem and position it how I like. When I let go, the position changes so I have to position it again to make up for the movement that's going to happen.Comes with additional clamps which was nice

Works as expected
Great item but need to use a wrench (supplied) to have hands attached firmly.

Recommended
Haven't used it for real yet, but so far it seems very good. Sturdier than I was expecting. The vice base has a grippy rubber texture, which is nice. I was sure how well the screws for alligator clips would hold, but I can pull on the clips fairly hard and they don't even budge. The goose necks are easy to flex without being too weak. All in all, this thing is WAY better than those classic jointed rod helping hands. I definitely recommend it.

Arms too short
Just setting up a little workbench in the corner. Maybe it's me, but I have a hard time manuvering all the arms to a satisfactory position. It's not that it can't be done, it's just hard with the arms being kind of short. Also, they dont hold much weight or tension without moving. Again, it might be me, I've not used one previously.
