Strong, fragrant black cardamom! Most pods fully intact, and all loaded with seeds. This is a staple spice in our kitchen. Like bay leaf, all it takes is one or two to enrich an entire meal.Black Cardamom is somewhere between anise-licorice with its smell, but the flavor is much brighter like citrus or tropical fruits. It is mainly used in savory dishes and pairs well with rice, green vegetables, and red meats. It’s relative green cardamom is generally the type available in powder form in the US, while black cardamom is mostly found in specialty Asian or upscale groceries and spice shops. Green cardamom is also (and maybe most frequently) used in sweet desserts and is considered one of the most expensive spices in the world.

Absolutely delicious....full of flavor and aroma. My chai tea will be never be the same. This gringo will be looking to Rani for all my Indian spices now.

Vorab: Das war meine erste Begegnung mit diesem Gewürz.Mit war wichtig das die Kapseln trocken sind, denn Feuchtigkeit sorgt fast immer für eine unerwünschte Bakterienzucht die dann in Fäulnis endet. Außerdem wurde mir das Gewürz aus mehreren Quellen mit einem erdigen, Duft beschrieben.Beide Kriterien waren hier absolut erfüllt. Die Kapseln sind trocken, riechen intensiv und erdig-gut. Die Kapselgröße könnte man nun zur Diskussion nehmen, aber Naturprodukte unterliegen nun mal immer einer gewissen Wachstumsschwankung die sowohl Regional als auch Artenbedingte Unterschiede mit sich bringt.Bin ich zufrieden? Aber ja!Würde ich wieder kaufen? Sicher!Wofür benutze ich das Gewürz? Ich mache Chili-Öl damit ... und mit dem was übrig bleibt, werde ich einige Asiatische und Indische Gerichte ausprobieren :D

I buy now to help India rather than wait to order for future needs :)I can not tell you how essential and varied Black cardamom uses are. It is expensive and few know it uses :)I have many tools for spices and just ordered a hand spice coffee mill to use after crushing. Is it great in a Bloody Caesar as tv sit com "Cheers" suggested?? Yes it is. I adds a dry ripe thirsts clamoring for more.It can be used from sweet to savory if you know your dealsThank you very much
