The cast parts are pretty impressive. I don't know of another kit that has such a great, real "saddle" for the bottom of the pipe. The cap and door end are well-cast, and fit schedule 40 PVC quite well. I wish the door locked more securely, but I modified it a bit to to make me rest easier when driving with a load of steel bar up there. For the record, this whole kit cost as much as just two PVC caps cost from my local irrigation outlet. This same kit from other online sources can be almost 2x as much as it is being sold here! I can make my own caps. I can make my own U-bolts, but I really liked those cast saddles, and the cost is so reasonable... so I bought the kit. I have some info and corrections (to statements I've seen in the comments) to share. First, this fits well on Schedule 40 PVC. If you want a lighter system, the kit will work on the drain/waste PVC that is about schedule 20. But you must use a bell end on both ends to get the diameter correct. OR you can cut some bands of a few inches each, cut those bands so they expand like a spring clip, slip them onto each end and glue them to make the correct diameter for the cast ends to fit. To strengthen the areas where the U-bolts go, and to make the pipe fit better in the saddles, you can (and I did!) add similar bands (cuffs?) to those areas where the U-bolts hold it. A band saw is really handy at this point! The U-bolts that came with mine are NOT 3/8-16 like everybody says (including the distributor!). They are certainly close, but are actually M10-1.5. This is so close that the M10 nuts from this kit will thread onto slightly narrower 3/8-16 bolts, but a 3/8-16 nut will not work on the U-bolts that came in my kit. I had to create a custom mount for mine, and purchased the 3/8 nuts I thought I needed, but NOPE. Will not fit the U-bolts. The thread pitch is just barely close enough, but the diameter of the M10 bolt is 0.6mm larger than a 3/8 bolt. So don't make the mistake I did! Realize that these are metric and don't waste money on nice stainless 3/8 hardware.

I looked for the best available Conduit Carrier and I felt these were the best. These are the only ones I found with a true "saddle" for the conduit to sit in. Much stronger and far less chance of crushing the PVC pipe. I did interact with the customer service department to get some additional parts and they were fast and efficient. The end castings seem to be quite good. No cavities or flaws in any of them. I really wanted to give this a 5 star but there are two flaws that stopped me. First, and this is a small one, the end casings are shipped face to face (aluminum to aluminum) and they tend to arrive somewhat scratched. Not a biggie since these are construction grade items and pretty isn't critical so minor issue. The more troubling problem is the way the hinge and latch are designed, the covers are quite loose when latched and not even close to watertight. There is a nice rubber gasket on the inside of the opening lid but because of the design, it never touches the mating surface. The larger the PVC size the bigger the gap. You can see this in my pics. (I have purchased one of each size - 4", 6" and 8") I solved the problem by adding some spring latches which hold the doors closed tight so they are now watertight. With that modification these are the best (IMHO).

Great quality product and easy to install. I used a bead of silicone around each cap with a couple of self tapping screws. They fit perfect over the 6" PVC pipe. I did have to cut the U bolts down just slightly in order to get a deep socket onto the nuts to tighten. This is money well spent!

Almost useless.To you both that come with this are useless I've wasted 3 hours of my life trying to make something work. I had to run out and buy unistrat and attach it to my ladder racks because of you bolts are not long enough to do the job there supposed to do. Then after installing unit stripe on top of my ladder ax I had to cut down the u-bolts by a quarter inch to make everything work and now the threads will not accept a nut. I've been working with threaded rod and unistrut and building things my entire adult life I've never not been able to get a thread to work after cutting a piece of all thread. Then when I went to go put the caps on the end of the pipe after putting a little silicone inside them didn't know where near tight enough to stay on. I had to grab some loctite out of my garage and now I'm literally 3 hours into this project and I'm nowhere near being finished I have to go out and buy more stock in order to complete this project. I'm about to cut up this piece of PVc pipe with the caps and send everything back and get my money back that's how irritated I am with this product.

I bought this carrier for camping as a place to put my fishing reels. The carrier is really solid and well-built, but I can't find a short section of PVC pipe. Lowe's, Home Depot, and local hardware stores don't carry 8 inch pipe. I went to a plumbing supply store and all they had were very long 20 ft. pipes for over $250, when all I need is a 6 ft. section. I'll probably end up selling it because it's more trouble than it's worth. Great product, but check around to see if you can find the PVC before buying.

Product is good and delivered fast. It's not 4" as mentioned. It is mentioned on the box 4" and a half. But it is 4.8" for real. Also when you lock the cover, it doesn't seal properly. Water and dust come inside. It needs some adjustment and thicker rubber.
