Absolutely love the flavor of the Peppered Herring, but a warning - everyone in the office WILL know what you are eating for lunch - VERY Aromatic!Absolutely delicious, and the Peppercorn "crust" adds a delicious difference to the Herring Fillets. Definitely smoked - I'm not sure if they are smoked heavier that regular Kippered Herring, or with a different wood, but once the can is opened, the pungent aroma will announce to everyone in a 30 foot radius that North Sea deliciousness is about to be consumed.Great by itself on crackers, or with a little cream cheese and dill on flatbreads. Hey, you want to look like a Viking? Then eat like a Viking!

I grew to love herring over the years, especially when it was served at weddings and other special ceremonies. There, it typically was the herring in cream sauce, but even the peppered herring fillets are a great substitute.These are wonderful fillets, easy to eat in an easy-to-open tin. I like opening the tin and eating right out of the tin.I highly recommend these herring fillets, but if you are watching your sodium (as I am) or your calories (which I am not), be aware that the nutrition chart (see below) says that this tin contains two servings, so if you eat the entire tin in one sitting, double those values. One serving is 28% of the recommended daily allowance of sodium, so the full tin is 56%.

Super good prepper food. The shelf life is over 4 years when you by at walmart but the ones i got online were 2 years out from best by date. Still not bad cause my family eats them often. My 10 yr/old loves them as well. They are well packaged and long lasting and the taste is unbelievable for fish. I highly recommend them.

Very good ! A bit spicy but great if you like peppercorns. I prefer the plain version...!

My husband loved this flavor. He said that it almost tasted like steak. My 5 year old preferred the mustard. :)
