Great jars! Perfect for homemade vanilla extract
I bought this to make vanilla extract in using Premium Bourbon-Madagascar Vanilla Beans - 1/2 lb. - Approx. 54 beans and vodka. The beans fit in perfectly with about an inch left at the top. The extract turned out amazing and I used Wheaton Amber Glass Boston Round Bottle with Screw Cap to package it for gifts. The lid seals airtight and the glass is thick and good quality. Thinking about buying more to store rice and such in.Update 12/10/17: Still have this jar with my vanilla going strong. I have replaced the lid seal as it became gunked up and sticky. Ikea sells a replacement pack that fit perfectly for only a couple bucks. I add more vodka to replace what I use, and added more beans a couple years ago. I would like to add more beans but the cost of vanilla beans right now is insane. I'm actually really glad I made this when I did because I have enough extract to last until hopefully the price of beans will come down.

Love My Juicing Jar to Pieces!
I am in love with Bormioli and I am not saying that just because it's made in Italy ;)!Seriously, I had been looking for a jar to store my green juice in for a long time - with green juices, it's very important that you have a tight container that does not let air in as well as a glass material rather than plastic, and something that is reasonably attractive.I LOVE these jars. My juices stay so fresh in them, and they wash so easily and feel just so nice to the hold, the container lid is TIGHT, it does not mess around, I love it, it is SO functional, and so reliable and just works. It just works. I LOVE it and I'd buy more in a heart beat.... in fact, I wonder if I should right now ;)!Get them, and use them. They are worth every penny.

Italian design + quality
We have lots of Bormioli Rocco glass jars, drinking glasses, and food storage containers in practically every size and shape. We love them all. These provide a nice, tight seal; the rubber gaskets can be replaced. We've never had a piece of Bormioli Rocco break. We bought this big 50-oz size to make Laura Calder's orange-coffee liqueur aka French 44. It's perfect for that.Caveats: 1) All jars with this style of lid & clasp can be a bit awkward to pour from since the lid can flip-flop around. 2) Jars made in Europe are in metric sizes, and conversions in product listings are often approximate.

Excellent for sourdough starter
Lovely jar. I use it for my sourdough starter because it's the perfect size. Due to its squared-off shape, it fits better in a corner of the refrigerator than a typical round one. The only thing which could be better is if it were shorter and wider, but held the same amount. It would be smart of you to buy the Danish stirrer pictured with the jar (get a small) to make stirring the starter up more easily when you feed it.Some have mentioned that it comes apart. It's supposed to, so that the jar can be easily filled and cleaned when used for canning. The metal fits cleanly back in so that's no problem. In fact, I recommend that you take it apart for each cleaning. This was a great purchase, and since I don't pay postage, it was cheaper than anywhere else I found it on line.

Great Glass Storage Organizing Solution for Kitchen Staples!
I have purchased several of these in various sizes from .5 L to 3L. I use them to store most of my staples like small shaped pasta, rice, coffee, dry beans, nuts and oyster/soup crackers. The wire closures and rubber lid gaskets provide a tight seal that keeps things fresh and the large openings make poring relatively easy. They are big enough to allow a measuring spoon or small scoop. They are very sturdy and durable. I wouldn't recommend these for flour or sugar though. There are better options available for those items. The fact that they are clear allows me to easily know when I need to restock and they are much easier to organize than a bunch of bags, cans, or boxes that these small items come in. They also make buying in bulk easier. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that recently I've noticed some of the wire closures are showing some rust. They still work fine, but just don't look as nice. The ones I have are all stamped "Made in Italy" so they are American made, but they are heavy good quality glass, not the cheap stuff that scratches or cracks easily. I generally hand wash them, but I'm sure they are dishwasher safe. I highly recommend them.

EXCELLENT for storing dried foods
I've been trying to find canning jars that vermin and insects could not enter. This is it!Two years ago, Norway rats entered my home due to bad advice from a "friend." Although, no damage was done due to fast thinking from my contractors, foods kept in Bormioli Fido Clear Square Canning Jars were totally protected. The rats ate the outside of the ring sealants, but could not open or break into the jar (and fortunately the jar did not hit the floor, so the glass did not break). Now, I'm replacing the seals to make the jar as good as new, further protecting the content.Thank you Bormioli Fido and Amazon for an excellent product line.

BORMIOLI ROCCO FIDO 50.75 OZ JAR
I make my own laundry detergent so I needed a jar that was air tight yet easy to access, and this jar fits that bill perfectly. It is a very well made jar that will last many years under normal use.Though I use mine for the laundry, you can use this for pasta, beans, & most any other foods that need storing. The fact that the jar is crystal clear, makes it easy for me to see not only what is inside it, but also how much.I'm more for function than fashion, but this jar has both fashion & function going for it. I checked around & the seal that comes with the jar, is easily replaceable if or when should it ever wear out.I highly recommend this purchase. You will not be disappointed.
