Breathe new life into the DEWALT XRP line of drills!
Received these the other day. My initial impression is that these are going to be excellent replacements to the original NiCad. As someone with multiple DeWalt drills using the 18v XRP NiCad battery, I was looking for a cost effective way to continue using these tools which range from a hammer drill to a right angle drill. Lately, I was lucky to get through an hour of work utilizing all 7 of the original batteries! I toyed with the idea of replacing the cells myself, but really didn't want to go through the hassle - especially as I was considering upgrading to Lithium Ion. Thankfully, I came across these, which to be honest, seemed a little too good to be true as the price of two was close to $20 cheaper than OEM NiCad ones. I have not run these much yet, so time will tell. Upon receiving them, I put them on the original charger to "top them off". The battery indicator on one stopped blinking and showed as full. The other continued to blink indefinitely. However, pulled it off the charger and it showed as full. I put one on my hammer drill and the drill felt brand new again. Nice and powerful! Pros: - 1:1 replacement of original 18v XRP NiCad battery - Use of original charger! - Lighter! - Powerful! - Power indicator! - Price!! Cons: None so far... I’ll be on the look out for any capacity issues as others have noted. Certainly, they’ll be better than the current NiCad ones...I hope. If they perform as well as they appear to, I will plan to purchase a few more.

Excellent battery life!
I bought these batteries as direct replacements for the original NiMH units that had worn out. The first project straight away was a loft bed built out of 2x4’s and 2x6’s, which necessitated a lot of screws and the use of a pocket hole jig. Not only did I manage to drill all the holes and install several dozen screws, the battery had nearly 50% capacity remaining at the end of the project! Relative to the original batteries, these have greater capacity, more endurance, and seem to charge quicker. They’re also a lot lighter. The battery status LED on the back of the batteries is a nice touch. It gives a good indication of remaining battery life while you’re mid-project. The original battery charger worked well, but I did notice that to get full charge I had to pull the battery after the charger indicated full. Once I re-inserted into the charger for a little bit longer, it worked fine. Not a dealbreaker.

Maybe not so good: edited 4/14/21
Edit 4/14/21: I'm slow getting around to updating my review. These only made it for about 3 months before they started being dead right off the charger. Dad removed one from the charger and it ran out while drilling a single pilot hole in a post for a hinge pin using a spade bit. This happened enough times that we concluded something was wrong, but we never figured out if the charger isn't charging them in the first place or if it is charging them then the charge is cut off and the battery then drains itself, or what. As mentioned in the original review below, we do use these with a traditional, non Lithium-ready charger, as the seller seems to imply we can do. After enough issues with tools not working when we needed them even for the simplest projects, with the old original batteries actually working better for us than these, even though those were long since failing on us, which was the reason we got these Lithium ones in the first place, we gave it up as a bad job. We bought a 7 tool kit that came in a big bag on wheels and was part of the Lithium 20v Max line. I did it on Black Friday and got a couple of buy one get something else free deals to get a couple of other tools free aside from this. It wound up being an investment of about $700 but we got 10 tools out of it one of which is a fantastic DCD998 drill, probably one of the best made. All said and done we have the two 2ah batteries the came with the kit, plus a 4ah that came with my impact wrench and an 8ah that came with that DCD998 drill. All that and we still had a bunch of old 18v tools laying unused, so I bought a couple of cheap adapters allowing us to use 20v Max batteries in those. That seems to work well but we have to be careful not to drain the batteries because we got a third party adapter that doesn't feature the ability to cut power to preserve the battery, so allowing the battery to stay on the adapter either in or out of a tool can result in it going so flat the chargers won't charge it. In short, I wouldn't recommend these batteries given our own experience. However, looking back at the original product description, it sounds like the seller is now implying that they're changing the design. If they are, perhaps they found and have fixed the problem we had. Original review: I'm getting a 3 dollar gift card for this review, but I promise that I'm not allowing that to bias my opinion. We got two of them with one purchase. I like the idea that these packs are filled with 18650 batteries. These are mainstream Lithium Ion cells that I can buy elsewhere. We haven't disassembled one of the packs to see how complicated replacing cells will be, but I still like the sound of that. What I like is the batteries are lightweight. They're higher capacity than the ones we used before without being as heavy. They seem to run the tools at a slightly higher top speed than the original batteries. The batteries are encased in a simple oval shaped housing without any fancy grooves or other design aspects. These are, according to the seller, supposed to work with the original charger that did not intend to support Lithium Ion chargers. So, if you are on the fence, this option enables you to make the switch without having to invest in a new charger. For us, this was a better value than switching to the 20v max batteries and using adapters. While we haven't owned these for very long, nor have we built anything big with the tools since we got these batteries, we have used and charged them a time or two. So far they do exactly what they promise. My dad used to build houses. We have lots of tools, many of which are 18v Dewalt. So far we are pleasantly pleased. I'll try to remember to come up here and add to my review once something changes.

These batteries are junk.
I first purchased these in April '22. They seemed cheap to me... lighter and less substantial than the Dewalt batteries I was replacing. However, the description stated they would be lighter, and they were reasonably priced, so I was hopeful they would work well. They did not. The power tools I used them in would "pause" because the batteries would produce enough power on demand. Even when new, each charge would last a fraction of the original Dewalt batteries, and they got worse over the year, even though most of that time they were either not in use or occasionally on the charger. And now, they have both quit altogether. I highly doubt that these are lithium batteries, as lithium batteries do not lose their charge over time like these do. I have no idea why there are so many good reviews, as both of mine were junk from the beginning.

Unreliable
I bought a pair about 3 months ago and one of the batteries cuts out sporadically. It charges without a problem and even when fully charged it stops sporadically when used in my circular saw, driver, drill, recip saw, and battery-operated light so it's the battery and not the tool. I suspect there is a poor connection internally but on opening the case there is nothing visibly wrong. It is beyond the return period so I can't return it although the other battery is working fine. I've also had a problem with Dewalt batteries that I purchased that were in sealed Dewalt packaging but with a 3-year warranty, they were replaced after a few months. Disappointed with these knock offs.

Great replacement for Dewalt $$$ version
Don't be confused by some of the bad reviews you see how there about alternative batteries than the name brand. this fit perfectly for the ION battery replacement, even though they are slightly longer. It seems that Dewalt made provisions to allow the smaller battery (original) to be replaced with the larger/longer version. I was skeptical at first. I've used these now and they were perfectly and hold a charge just as well as the original. Instead of paying 3x as much, try these out. I think you'll be happy.
