Hearts Afire: The Complete Series

Love this series
Not sure how I missed seeing this series when it was on television. As a fan of both John Ritter and Markie Post, this would have been something I should have watched. I'm glad I ran across this complete series set. The episodes look great. I doubt that some of the sexual innuendo could be shown on network television today. The series comes on seven DVDs, with three discs containing series one, and two discs each for series two and three. The discs are packaged in a rather large DVD case (it's 1 1/2" thick) and the discs are stored in individual paper sleeves. And, in case someone is interested in such things (such as myself) - the episodes have subtitles (English). The back of the DVD case mentions that this set also includes bloopers, outtakes, and the unaired final episode - all from the creator of 'Designing Women'.

A fairly funny show
I liked the first season of this show a good bit. I really liked Beth Broderick the most because of her accent. When they relocated for the second season the cast was changed and the first few episodes were not funny. They wised up and turned Conchata Ferrell loose and the episodes got a lot funnier. Then they added Leslie Jordan and the show was funny for most of the rest of the episodes. John Ritter and Markie Post fans should check it out but others may want to pass on this series.

Good, except for picture quality....
I have just started watching this series on DVD for the first time. So far, I like it. However, the quality of the video is not what it should be. Yes, this is an older series, but I have DVD's of much older series that look far superior. I don't think any effort was taken to improve the picture quality by Mill Creek Entertainment. For that reason I have deducted the one star.

WELL WORTH WATCHING OVER AGAIN
One of the great things about technology now is the fun of having access to the really well done programs from years, even decades, ago. An even better thing is to watch something like HEARTS AFIRE - THE COMPLETE SERIES, and finding it stands up even better than you remember. This program is well-written, very funny and yet tugs at your heartstrings. I love the idea that I own my own copy and can watch it when I want. It is full of delightful performances by people such as John Ritter, Markie Post, Ed Asner and Billy Bob Thorton, who seem to have enjoyed making it. The color and quality of the print is expert. All in all, I consider this a real keeper.

Excellent, very funny series!
I highly recommend Hearts Afire - The Complete Series. I didn't see this tv series when it first aired in the 1990's. I have enjoyed watching it on dvd. Very funny, well written shows with many laugh out loud moments. I especially enjoyed the first season. John Ritter and Markie Post are excellent in this and have great chemistry together. The rest of the cast which includes Billy Bob Thornton and Ed Asner are hilarious and great in this show. If you enjoyed John Ritter in Three's Company you will enjoy him in Hearts Afire. It is a must see show for sure. An excellent price to buy the complete series.

Funny as it was first time around
Too bad this series went off the air so soon. Great cast, and who would have thought Billy Bob Thornton (pre-Angelina) could do this type of comedy. Even Berta from 2 1/2 Men is in this. (Conchata Farrell). If you didn't see this series when it first was on, this set is well worth it. And if you have seen it before and liked it.... well it is still as funny as it was then. As others have noted, the video quality unfortunately is no the best.

Even Better than I Remember...
This show is hysterically funny, sweet, heart warming and even better than I remember. It had me rolling in the floor laughing and brought tears to my eyes more than once. One of my favorite episodes is Cold Feet.As I recall some critic tagged this show as "Pants Afire". They were WRONG! If you watch this series, you will see so much more than that. At the giveaway price they are offering, it's worth every penny. I wish they would run this series on TV as well. No matter, I have it in my collection. I LOVE IT!

funny and this is a witty political sitcom that was ...
I am obsessed with John Ritter. I think he was handsome, talented, funny and this is a witty political sitcom that was best in its first season. Billy Bob Thornton is hilarious in every scene. I enjoyed the banter between John Ritter and Markie Post. The son Elliot is also adorable and funny. Great all around cast.
