A brilliant exposition on an excellent internal martial art.
I have been training in martial arts disciplines since 1970, and have always enjoyed the Internal arts of Baguazhang, and Xing I since the early 1980's. This volume treats the topic of hei jing and ming jing in a very relatable manner. The content of the book is enough to keep your attention for a long time, it is that in-depth, and the form work and applications are numerous. I am pleased to add this volume to my martial arts library, where I will put it next to Mike Patterson's "A means to an end" series of works on xingyiquan and baguazhang. I am hoping the author will continue more in his works to elaborate on his branch of Xing Yi further.

Excellent presentation of lesser known Xing Yi applications
I already have way too many reference books on bagua, Xing Yi, and other Chinese arts, but I am really glad I added this one to the library. This covers applications for two of Xing Yi's many animal movements, but the selected movements in this book are less common. They were well chosen, though, to represent a wide range of possible applications that are true to the style. The author also throws in nice tidbits and some genuinely insightful comments, though hopefully more is to come, as a follow-up volume would definitely be in order.A well done effort, especially in comparison to much of the martial arts works out there.

Excellent Xing Yi Book
I bought this book as a reference to my own training in Xing Yi. It's by far the best book I have read on the subject. Very clear and has information which I have not seen written anywhere. Well worth buying.

More than just a book about xing yi
It is obvious that the author knows a significant amount about this lineage specifically, but what also is evident is that his explanation of the internal arts encompasses all levels of practice - physical, mental and spiritual. This is a book for people who want to appreciate a genuine internal art in all of its different facets - Glen takes you on this journey though xing yi and also talks about his own journey through various other arts and experiences.I highly recommend this book to all those with an interest in genuine internal arts, it has a rare spirit that allows you to appreciate the true value of these forms of practice...I look forward to the next volume.

Comprehensive, one of the very best Xing Yi animal books around.
This is a great product and a rare find. It gives an unusually detailed discussion on two animal "Xing" and the excellent photos make it an essential training rescource.

Go on, it’s well with it!
I took a long time to buy this book, luckily I gave in to temptation and took the chance...a really well written and presented book. Mr Board has taken great pains (no pun intended) to produce a thought provoking and enthusiasm enticing book. I was shown Tai and Tuo years ago-practised them but never mined them as thoroughly as Mr Board has. In reading this book I have had a total re-examination of the practises that I have available to me...enlivening them as each part of each motion now is fuller with potential extra applications not just end postures-I cannot wait for further volumes to appear, hint hint
