Disappointing June 2015
Disappointing. Lacks flavor and is bitter. The only way I find it drinkable is to put 2 tsp in the infuser and steep for no more than 3 minutes. If left for any longer the bitterness comes out. If you just put 1 tsp in the infuser you get weak tea with no flavor. This is from a package that was picked June, 2015. Maybe 2015 was a bad year, but I have found better alternatives such as Twinings Assam Strong and Mighty 80 Tea Bags .

Old tea in new box
The web site listed fresh picked 2015 Harvest; label on box states picked June 2015 but sealed pkg inside states picked September 2014. They packed old tea in new box.

Wrong Year’s Tea
Like some other reviewers, the box I received said the tea was picked June 2015 (as advertised), but the bag inside the box was labeled Sept 2014. I wouldn’t have minded that if the tea was good, but it just isn’t. I bought this tea based on the great reviews and the name “Signature Malt.” A truly malty Assam is my favorite tea. The tea I received has NO malt flavor at all. It has no gold tips and is vaguely sweet taste but with a slight vegetal taste. Disappointing, to say the least.

Not what I expected
Horrible quality. It rates like smoked tea. It was also repackaged. First bag said 2014 harvest. The seco d box said 2015 harvest. Which oNE is the right one. I'mvery unhappy about the quality and the flavor of this tea. I expected a smooth good quality Assam tea.

unique and flavorful taste
When you first open the bag, you are overcome with the fabulous aroma of this tea. The manufacturer describes it as follows: "Especially handcrafted for black tea enthusiasts who manifest a strong penchant for the unique malty character found in gourmet teas grown in the region of Assam in north-east India, this signature harvest is a distinctive relish. The compelling aroma is reminiscent of a combination of fresh fruits and slightly toasted wood. The flavor is extravagantly malty and bodied followed by hints of vanilla. The toasty, malty flavors are in perfect balance with slightly bitterish hops which makes the cuppa a unique experience. Every sip charges your taste buds with boldness and flavor. The maltiness lingers and moves towards a slightly sweet finish. Manufactured skilfully, with an appealing appearance, the long slightly wiry tea leaves display select golden tips and a slightly greyish color profile. The liquor is bright and clear. If you like malty black teas, you just cant miss this."The tea comes in a vacuum sealed bag inside of a small box, and there is a second bag to reclose it with a ziplock type closure. It is approximately 3.5 oz. I also noticed right away that the Date of Picking / Harvest is indicated right on the package so you know the product you're getting and you know when the best time you should use it by.Unfortunately the dates on the outer box and inner bag do not match up, so it seems as if the tea was repackaged at some point. The vacuum sealed bag says September 2014. The outer box has the month of picking as June 2015. It is supposed to be good for 3 years, so it has not expired either way, it just seems dishonest or lack of quality control on the manufacturer's part.I steeped the tea for about five minutes, and this strong, yet rich assam tea has a unique and flavorful taste to it. It has a slightly malty flavor, but without teh bitterness usually associated with it. I like to put half a spoonful of sugar in my cup, but it also tastes good with just a splash of milk and honey.I received this product at a discount. I have provided an honest and unbiased review based on my personal experience with this product. I am not affiliated with the company in any way and my star rating is based on my personal experience and use of the product.

Confusing Labels but still Good Tea
The Assam Tea Signature Malt by Golden Tips came inside a black foil lined safety sealed bag that I had to cut open. Then there was a brown foil lined bag with a reclosable zipper for me to put the tea into to keep it fresh.I was able to easily take off the label on the original black bag and attach it to the new brown reclosable bag. I feel really good about how the tea was packaged. The tea is grown and packed in India. There was one big problem and that was a conflict of the month of picking on the outside box and on the inner bag the tea came in.The inner black bag that contained the tea was dated September 2014. The outer box has the month of picking is June 2015 with a best before June 2018. That gives tea a shelf life of 3 years from the date of picking. Which even using the older date still has this tea in date until September 2017. It is just a little misleading. The directions are on the Amazon page not included in the box. I followed them to the "T" and ended up with a delicious and strong cup of tea. I am an avid tea drinker and enjoyed this tea.Recommend Golden Tips to correct the packaging error. Overall, still the tea is still good for some time. Enjoy!I must disclose that I received a discount on this product as part of a promotion in exchange for an unbiased and honest product review.
