DEWALT DWHT70276 Compound Action Lineman Pliers 4-1/2 Inch, Chrome

Grabbed these for a project because they were cheap and I could get them next day. They’re heavy (in a good way) and work fine as an “electrician’s hammer” too. They haven’t had a problem cutting wire, but I haven’t tried anything past 8g with them.

I'm a DYIer, not a professional, so I don't expect to put these through rigorous daily work. I find the handles to have a comfortable grip. I measured the "jaws" to be 5/8" wide, maybe 11/16". That's something I couldn't find before buying, so I'll mention it in my review.My purpose for buying these was to be able to pre-twist wires before applying a wire nut. I struggled doing this twisting with just regular pliers, which is why I invested in these Dewalt pliers. In one try on some practice wire, I produced what I thought was a fantastic joint of 3 x 12 AWG wires (see photo). It took me less than 60 seconds once the two conductors were stripped.These won't be my primary cutter, but I trimmed off just a small amount from my twisted wire test, and that was pretty clean.

Great pliers, love the compound action but they ARE NOT 4-1/2" pliers! Mea Culpa... I didn't read the fine print to check the dimensions and purchased thinking these were going to be an awesome addition to my tool chest. I was stoked that I had found a set of lineman's pliers in 4-1/2" with compound action.I know, not a huge demand for that product but, damnit, the need is there. Having a smaller, but durable, set of lineman's pliers would be a YUUGGE bonus to my tool bag when it comes to manipulating wires in compact spaces where standard 8-10" pliers JUST. DON'T.FIT.Hey Dewalt; make some 4-1/2" Lineman's Pliers!

Locking mechanism doesn’t work correctly otherwise seem fine
