Informative, concise and practical
This is a very good and thorough guide to the nuts and bolts of vocal pedagogy. Very helpful vocalises and exercises along with succinct but sufficient anatomical explanations. I would give the book 5 stars but it suffers from repeated identity politic phrases that muddle the authors intent at times. Other than that it is superb.

In the tradition of Structure of Singing
This is a fabulous book in the tradition of Richard Miller's The Structure of Singing, but with inclusion of CCM techniques and discussion. Dr. Ragan fills the book with topic-by-topic description of aspects of singing with generous vocal and physical exercises to apply in the studio. A perfect resource for new voice teachers, and for those of us who are experienced and wish to implement fresh new ideas in our studios. I loved her concise, detailed writing style and her well-organized vocal exercise ideas. She recommends some interesting and useful props for breath work and resonance, as well. I have already recommended this book to my former students who have graduated and are out teaching others. A worthy volume that should become a new classic!
