France LuxeLuxury Rectangle Barrette, Alba - Classic French Design for Everyday Wear

This is a really great barrette! At first I thought it would be much too small and that it would not work for me. I gave it a try anyway with my hair as I wear it almost always - in a ponytail at the nape of the neck. I haven't had any trouble with this slipping off or coming out completely as did others that were too large. I also didn't have problems with it being too small and not holding all my hair at once. This is the 4th barrette I've tried and doesn't need to be returned. My hair is long (1/2 way down my back) but it's more fine textured than thick and this is perfect! The quality is evident, the color choices are numerous and this barrette is well worth the price! The color I bought is alba and it's a very neutral color that matches just about everything. I never realized how many different barrettes there are to choose from, sizes and colors, but for my type of hair this is the best!

I love the quality of France Luxe products all together. I have very fine hair and this barette holds my hair in place without any problems. I'm worried a barrette or hair clip will just fall out of my hair easily because my hair is smooth and thin. This barrette does the job in holding my hair half-up without falling at all and it does it for the whole day if I need it in place that long.

Very disappointed with this purchase. I have been using the same brand of hair barrettes for a while and decided to buy a new one in Nacro black. Did not realize that this one is not of the same size as the ones I have been using, although the names were similar and the pictures look the same. Only after careful comparison I discovered that the recent one is described as France Luxe Luxury Rectangle Barrette where as the previous one was described as France Luxe Classic Rectangle Hair Barrette. The recent one turned out to be a tiny barrette which will not hold all your hair for any adult. You will have to part your hair and use it as decoration only. I immediately tried to return it in exchange for the bigger size but the seller will not accept to take it back. So I wasted $16 for something that is utterly useless.

Hinge and clasp is durable and well made. Tortoise design is timeless.

I bought one of these for my mother because she's been wearing the same barrette everyday for years. Every time we went to the pharmacy or department store we would look at the same plain cheap ones and go home empty handed. I wanted to get her something nice and different. I liked the various color selections and the one I chose (Caramel Horn) was true to the photo. Though a bit more expensive than I would normally pay for a hair accessory, the clip was well-made, polished quite nicely, and did not look cheap. My mother also has thin hair, which was a concern, but this barrette was marketed as, "perfect for a thin to medium hair ponytail," which is true in that the back of the clip has a high metal bar attached that meets the clip and secures the hair in place, the downside, however, is that it also makes the height of the barrette much larger and it protrudes rather noticeably if worn any place but towards the back of the head. Also, although my mother has long hair, because it is thin, there is not so very much of it which can be a problem because the barrette requires a decent amount of hair in order to fully secure it in place. These are all things that can be gotten over with a bit of fine tuning and a slight change in her simple everyday hairdo however I might tend to recommend this barrette to someone with more medium-thickness hair to fully enjoy it.

As a longtime user of this category of barrettes in this brand, I'm surprised that this "luxury" barrette LACKS THE LUX which is the customary MADE IN FRANCE stamped clasp. The plastic/acetate bar of the barrette is a fine quality but the thickness and quality of the metal clasp is no better than a barrette from a drugstore or big box store. I will keep and use, though, won't expect it to last as long.

I got the onyx color of the medium rectangle barrette and have to say it is absolutely stunning! The color mix really makes it a versatile piece that can go with both casual and dressy looks. I have thin hair, so for me it works even for full pony tail, but also partial updo. For those with thick hair, you might want the next bigger size. Would buy it again.

This barrette was just right for my thin hair. I had tried the size below and the size above and FINALLY got this one which was just right. All of France Luxe barrettes are so pretty and SO well made. They click in and out so easily without pulling out my wimpy hair which I REALLY appreciate. Plus they make Returns SO easy! Class A Customer Service. They provide everything and refund the purchase price lightning fast. This will definitely be my go to place for barrettes from now on.
