The Scarlet Dragon (2) (The Kingdom of Wrenly)

Perfect beginner chapter books for little girls
My daughter is 5 years old and she just started reading on her own. I knew she had more capabilities than what I was seeing. When I started with chapter books, I purchased the Magic a Treehouse series. She had very little interest in reading it herself. Then I found the Wrenly series and it all changed! My daughter immediately showed interest and she reads it on her own now! It mashes together all the things she loves - princesses, dragons, mermaids, unicorns, etc. And there are a few pictures along the way so that helps keep her engaged. These books are very appropriate for her age too (without words like "stupid" which I found in a Treehouse book)

Another great book
Love this series! My 6 year old son absolutely loves this series and hasn't liked the others we have tried so far. The illustrations are beautiful, the stories hold his interest and are well written. I find them to be appropriate for both genders. This story centers around an egg that has been found in the kingdom. The egg holds a rare species of dragon and the main character in the series, Prince Lucas, gets to keep and care for the egg until the birth of the Scarlet Dragon. This introduces another character (the pet dragon) to the series.

My son fell in love with the book and so far it is the ...
I was having trouble finding books my son would want to read. He was 8 when I found these and a little behind in his reading. I wanted something that would be interesting enough to keep him engaged. As far as the story line goes, I would not rate it very high but I'm not the one reading it so that doesn't really matter. My son fell in love with the book and so far it is the only series that he wants to read and enjoys reading. If your child enjoys adventure and a little mystery then they will love these books too.

Binge Readers in training
My 9 year old is totally binging this series. I had to tell her only one book a week because she adores them and can finish one in a day now.

A winner!
I can't actually say I have read this as my 7 year old reads them before I get a chance to read them to him. He scoops up these books and reads them instantly. They are easy reads, true, but the point is he won't put them down until they are done. Which usually takes him a couple of days. We have lots of books that he enjoys but not that he consumes so aggressively as these.

Great starting chapter book
We are just introducing our son to chapter books, and I wasn't sure what we would find. These seem to be great stories (he is on book 4 right now). They have simple plots, but enough details to keep him interested. He always wants us to read more at the end of story time, and I think that is great. There is also both male and female characters, something not all authors pull off well.

Apparently you can order the first 3 with a map--I would recommend doing that if you can find it
Our 2nd grader is loving this series! Apparently you can order the first 3 with a map--I would recommend doing that if you can find it. If your kid likes adventure, they will enjoy this series. These are a great start for chapter books for young readers.

Great series!
Adventurous without scary villains, drama or disrespectful language, they are perfect for my Waldorf kids. My girls are absolutely inthrawled with the plots, and the older one is starting to read them on her own!Start on book one as the story builds from one book to the next.

Great chapter book for young readers!
The Kingdom of Wrenly series are a set of great first chapter books for young readers who are just beginning to take an interest in reading for themselves, or reading with an adult. (both girls and boys ages 6-8, depending on reading level.)Filled with black and white illustrations and a detailed map to set the stage and engage the reader with the visual worlds of Wrenly.Full of travel and exploration through a fairy tale, fantasy world where the readers meet Dragons, Trolls, Wizards and much, much more.

Great series!
I can't tell you how much I love this series. My son was struggling to make the leap from easy readers to full out chapter books, not because of lack of reading ability but because he didn't feel confident to tackle books with pages and pages of text and no pictures. It felt overwhelming. I started him on the Kingdom of Wrenly series and he read the first book in 3 hours. There are just enough pictures to keep him feeling confident while moving him into full chapter books with long plots and complex words. Amazing! I love these books.
