The coyotes were setting off the alarms out by the green houses, and fearing for our cats, I would go out and chase them off. One night I went out with the cat following me and we walked around the backside of the greenhouse. I tripped over the cat and then in a nanosecond, sprayed a bit of the greenhouse wall about 3 feet away from me and hip high and that alone was enough to incapacitate me for two days and the cat ran away for three. I couldn’t imagine getting a face full of it. Nonetheless besides my lack of trigger discipline, this stuff works great. If you’ve never trained with one, you should buy two and train with one or buying an inert one. You’ll want to wear gloves, safety glasses and all that and you’ll still probably get some of it on you or in your eye! I replace mine every couple of years, or if the can gets dented, and I use the old one to remind myself how it works, and the speed at which I can deploy it.

I have a neighbor next to me who won't take the time, or comprehend what it takes to train his dogs. Most are friendly, one is not. There are no barriers between myself and the other apartments, so when his mastiff attacked me, I was able to fend it off, but seeing reviews online convinced me that this will be effective. Downside is that the wind has to be still or in the direction of the animal, or the spray will dissipate in a short distance or even blow back on me. There are some that discharge a stream that may be more reliable since they shoot farther and though not as strong, are concentrated and if aimed right, can be effective.

I purchased my first Counter Assault Bear Spray 7 years ago but have never used it. I purchased again recently as gifts because I have been very satisfied with my original purchase. I carry it often and it has been holding up very well to some major abuse. The container and holding hardware still look like new.

Didn't need to use it yet, but it made us feel protected!!

This is a great bear deterrent spray. If you need it this is great to have.
