EquinoxUltralite Ground Cover (42 x 90-Inch)

As a regular fast day packer, I have pieces of kit I never venture anywhere without. This varies from season to season naturally, but this ground cover is an all-year-round component. Being super lightweight and compact, it is no problem stuffing in any sized daypack . It is very tough considering how flimsy it looks and feels; don't be fooled. It can take a beating. It has saved me on many damp and cold rest breaks. My only complaints, if they are even relevant to the intended purpose: Nice if it had it grommets instead of ties, and a few more along the sides instead of only four corners...and if this was more square in shape; that would be nice too, but I'm still very impressed with this ground cover which I consider my 'emergency tarp'

Very lightweight and in real life looks better than expected. Very good ultralight compression sack. There are 2 problems however : made of coated nylon, it is extremely slippery. So if you use it as a groundsheet below your mattress, the mattress slips away after your first turn in a sleeping bag. So for me at least, it is only usable as a full tent groundsheet, not with a tarp. Secondly, it is otherwise a very nice ultralight piece of equipment, but why do they use big cotton laces as pole hooks ? They get wet while camping and do not dry easily.

I use this for camping with my equinox bivy & bug screen.

I've used several different materials for a ground cloth, and the silnylon is my favorite by far. Tyvek is nice, but always noisy, Mylar and other plastic or "non-woven" fabrics are ok, but not very durable. The silnylon has its flaws, but is very durable, very light, and it just looks cool.

I am not too fond of the cotton corner ties but They will work till I have them replaced with something that will dry faster. Kinda slippery compared to Tyvek but the weight and noise savings make up for it. Very light weight and well constructed. Complaints aside I would still order the product.
