My husband loves this oil that I got for him on Father's day (Bay Rum). He says that he definitely can feel a difference with softness and manageability. I agree that it makes his beard feels softer and looks more healthy (it appears almost sparkly when he first puts it on. This is less noticeable as it soaks in). He has had this for several weeks and has enjoyed putting it on every day after his shower.Because he likes it so much, I have given it 5 stars. It does exactly what it claims to do; smoothens, softens, conditions. However, I am personally am having trouble adjusting to it, and that is because of the smell!Because I ordered this online, I had no way to test it before purchasing. What does "Bay Rum" smell like, anyway? Surely not like alcohol? (And no, I can safely say this does NOT smell alcoholic in any way. But neither does it smell like bay leaves, as I was hoping). The closest thing I can compare it to is "Skin-so-soft", which is something my Daddy used to wear to ward off mosquitoes. So when I kiss my husband, I can't help but think of bug repellant lol. And my Dad. (Haha, which can feel weird when you are kissing your man.) However, I am SURE this will not be an association that every person has, so don't worry unless a man in your life wore skin-so-soft sometime in your past. ;)It really is a nice, faint scent. Not too overwhelming at all. It is growing on even me, so I don't consider the smell to be a negative thing.I definitely would recommend this product to a man with a beard, especially if he lives in a dry climate.

When I saw this beard oil, I was intrigued with the description of the scent. Bay Rum. They say Bay Rum is the reason your grandmother was first attracted to your grandfather. I decided to give it a shot.What I experienced could only be described as epic. Life-changing.First, I applied this oil after showering. Women were throwing themselves at me. Roller-derby-style battles ensued. All fighting for the chance to catch one sweet whiff of my beard. Bears knelt down in homage. Then I left the house.Next, I went to work. Stopped at Starbucks on the way. Baristas flirted heavily. Female customers wanted me. Male customers wanted to be me. "There goes a true gentleman," I heard one whisper, enviously. I drank my coffee. I drove to work. Accidents piled up behind me. "Who was that bearded Adonis," I heard them all say. I didn't have time to greet them all. I had work to do.When I arrived at work, profits tripled. Customer requests went through the roof. Peers sought my wisdom. Left work, time to go home.Arrived home. Went out back with my  Fiskars X17 Splitting Axe, 23.5-Inch  and chopped a cord of white oak. Stacked it tightly but decided that the day was not over.Recruited a gang of hardy, beer-swilling Scandinavians and constructed a sailing vessel. Set sail from central Pennsylvania with the intent to overtake any and all island nations in the North Atlantic. Conquered Britain, as the EU wasn't about to help them after they voted to leave. Conquered Iceland, they were all in France for the Euros. Nice folks, but were easily distracted by my silky smooth, sweet-smelling beard.Arrived home near midnight. I could still sense the scintillating aroma of Gentleman's Beard Bay Rum Beard Oil. Slept soundly and found that the scent transferred to my pillow. I could smell it for days after, reminiscent of my manly adventures.So, yeah, good product. Would recommend.

Really great product, got the Bay Rum scent right and does the job.Packaging was great and showed attention to detail, which I appreciate whenever a liquid is sent.Personal experience notes:This isn't a styling aid, like a wax - it's more like a conditioner. It's not meant to hold your facial hair in place if you are trying to 'sculpt' anything. It gets things tamed and 'juiced up' and less wire-y, especially for folks that have gone gray (like me) or have anything beyond stubble. I let my full beard grow over the end of year Holiday break but I don't want to look like a hobo. I kept a big chinnie beard after the break this year just because and I've used this every day after a shower. It reined in the wild bits and it also seems to have kept that creepy "yellow" thing from manifesting in facial hair at a certain length for men of a certain age.A few drops in the carpet 'downstairs' *ahem* isn't a bad idea either, if you catch the drift.I'm not a guy who uses 'product' or gives much of a hoot, but this is good with me. As mentioned, they got the Bay Rum scent right. I also ordered the Sandalwood. Not sure if I got an off batch or what, but the Sandalwood only had an oil scent to it - which is better than nothing, but eh...what am I, a hippie?No product ever gets a 5 star review from me unless it just blows my mind. This one danced pretty close. Didn't care for the immediate emails from the seller thanking me for buying the product, confirming shipment, requests for confirmation of receipt, asking for feedback and then repeated follow up email requests from them asking for a product review.

I have used several different balms but this is my first beard oil. I am really pleased with it. First off--great smell! It doesn't matter how well a oil or balm works, if it smells bad or too strong, I'm not going to use it. The best way I can describe this scent is faintly tropical mixed with a bit of that old barbershop smell I remember as a kid. It is not strong but rather subtle. Just a very pleasant, masculine scent that my wife really loves.As for the oil's effect on my beard, I am really pleased. I don't have really coarse beard hair, but I do get flyaways and this tames them down. Overall, the beard looks healthier. Just a bit of shine and no heavy, oil feeling. You won't be doing any shaping with this oil, but that is really more the department of a balm, so I plan to try their Bay Rum balm at some point in future.Overall, I am very pleased with this product and recommend it. Good stuff for all your bearded folk (and the women who love them).
