I loved this movie as a teen. As an adult, still a good movie. Storyline is rich boy falls for poor maid how is a princess in disguise because she is pure of heart and can Dance! Yep, all about the dance for him. Touches on a few ecological issues too which is what pulled me to it as a teen. Recommend watching it.

The first time I watched this movie, I feel in love with it. Laura Herring portrays Nisa, a princess from the rainforest of Brazil. Her home is being destroyed by a lumber company and her village and it's residents threatened and intimidated by the owner of that company and his goons. She goes to Las Angeles to seek help. Unfortunately, she soon discovers that it's not going to be that easy. She takes a job working as a maid for an affluent couple and she becomes close with their grown son. He teaches her how to get by in LA and she teaches him a forbidden dance, the Lambada. Upsetting his friends and his girl friend, he begins spending a lot of time with her. When his parents find out, they fire her and she is forced to take a dancing job in a bad part of town. Eventually he finds her and after a quarrel they reconcile and he tries to help her. They decide to enter a dancing competition, hoping that by winning they may get the word of her ordeal out to the masses, since the competition will be televised. The man who owns the lumber company can't allow that to happens o he kidnaps her. That's where I'm gonna stop, because I don't want to give away the ending but, let me just say, that's it's worth watching.
