Versatile
The Stanton Moore Pandeiro is very solid and resembles a large wooden tambourine fitted with a coated Emperor drum head and rod mounting clamp. It comes with it's own zip bag and tuning key (a standard drum key will not fit). I purchased the Stanton Moore Pandeiro with the intention of using it as a portable foot bass drum. You can watch videos on Youtube demonstrating this. When it arrived I tuned it low, hooked it up to my LP Gajete pedal and put an old wash cloth rolled up like a cigar in it to get that old school bass drum sound. The jingles do not distract from the bass drum sound but add a kind of gypsy flavor to it. (If you don't like the jingles I imagine you could tape them to mute them.) I can't say it duplicates the sound of a loud bass drum by itself - but with a mic and some EQ you can pump it up. I also tuned the Pandeiro up high, put it on a snare drum stand and it sounded just like a snare drum when swished with brushes. It created a decent train beat too. So I have to say that this thing is ultra portable and has a variety of uses. Try to get it for under $100 including shipping and you'll feel like you got a great deal. Enjoy !

Perfect for those Stanton Moore type patterns during a drum ...
Perfect for those Stanton Moore type patterns during a drum solo. I play the intro to "Sprung Monkey" with it and it sounds downright awesome. I've found this to be a pretty unique accessory to my standard drumkit. I play cover music in bar bands, and it offers a lot of possibilities. The build quality is great, as to be expected from LP. I also have several LP salsa cowbells which are equally good quality. I was hesitate at first to spend about $100 on another percussion "toy", but this is worth it. If you use a Roland trigger pad, or backing tracks (when playing live) you may not absolutely need it, but it can be used to effectively emulate certain sounds and accents. Recommended.

Great instrument but a bit heavy
The head is made out of a thick almost rubbery feeling material. It sounds good but doesn't feel anything like drum head that I'm used to. Also the unit is a bit heavy. Sounds great though!

Beautiful instrument
This Latin Percussion instrument was given to my 22 year old grandson. It was a gift for his birthday. It is a beautiful product, very well made and has a nice sound. He said it was just perfect for his band.

Extremely heavy
It is EXTREMELY heavy. We can't play it. Sound is so quiet, you don't get the regular sound you have when playing a tambourine.

Beautiful Instrument
The Pandeiro is a beautiful instrument. the received instrument was tuned low and sounds like a snare drum with the snares engaged, or a tight high tom. It can be tuned higher like a tambourine. Installation is a breeze and chicks dig it.

A little overpriced but sounds good
This item seems like it should be priced more around the $99-$119 range. But it sounds exactly like I expected it would based on Youtube videos. My only complaint w/ the quality would be the little hooks that hold the head down. Before I threw the cardboard box away I gave it a shake and kept hearing something bouncing around inside the box. I found that one of the hooks that holds the head on was just laying in the bottom of the box. It wasn't an "extra" one that just happened to wind up in the box as one was missing from my pandeiro. Strangely, the nut was on the hook so it didn't fall off. It was just not installed and then thrown into the box. When I went to install it I found the threads to be in less than perfect condition. I had to put the hook in a vise and run the nut over the full length of the threads a few times to get it to the point where the nut would go on all the way. When I went to tune it I noticed a few of the other nuts turned with quite a bit of resistance.

Superior quality with this Tamborim. Lot more expensive than the plastic versions available, but that's reflected in the build quality. Nice to play ,with a good feel.

Klare Empfehlung.
