Live Daphnia Magna (Popular Water Fleas) - 1000 by Aqua L'amour

I've ordered live daphnia through the mail three times. The first time through a place that i couldn't find again; they had very good quality and quantity, but took a LONG time to get here and was at least 12$ more than here. Then i tried another place on Amazon, it was TERRIBLE! Did NOT get the 1000 i ordered, almost all were dead or died quickly, THERE WERE PARASITIC WORMS IN THE BAG, and it cost more than this place.With Aqua L'amour, I got FOUR double bagged containers (way more than the other two i order from, seemed like much more than 1000), they were ALL alive and very healthy, clear water, no parasites, by far the cheapest place i've ordered from, came a day earlier than promised. I just can't say enough good things about these guys!

The shipment was delayed over a three day weekend. When it finally arrived, all I received were several plastic bags filled with foul smelling cloudy water and a lot of detritus at the bottom. I will not order this product again.

Holy daphnia Batman. This is my 4th attempt to buy daphnia and culture them for my fish. I have received dead cultures and tiny cultures. This order is PROLIFIC. Seriously, I was so happy I nearly cried. I added the typical restaurant water pitcher in the photo for scale. There are two very large glass containers full of daphnia. I could have used a third. This seller is really appreciated, after several disappointments.What I have learned is that even with my water filtration system, I have metal in my water supply and the few daphnia that survived previous shipments died. I used a 5 gallon bottle of spring water for these jars. Also, I read online about spirulina and yeast for food. However, the spirulina turned the water dark green very quickly and probably choked out the last remaining daphnia. Just a few rice grain portions over a month ruined the water. It is yeast and pea powdered protein from here on out.

Our order came earlier than expected and most were alive. I would recommend this vendor. Three issues- we had a few mosquito larvae in with the Daphnia, the algae food bottle leaked and our package arrived "Postage Due" of $11.25. But overall, I would order from them again as long as there is no postage due. I do think that quality could be weather dependent. If there is extreme heat or cold, there may be more issues-which would be expected from any source of live specimens.

Unfortunately out of 1000 I may have ordered, i am confident in estimating that less than 25 arrived alive. I'm from the PNW so didn't expect that the short duration in some heat would likely lead to a mass casualty event.The packaging seemed likely to be sufficient in less strong weather, came with some insulation and what look like small ice packs (like the size of a hand warmer, just two of them).As feedback for the shipper, I have absolutely no doubts about the quality of the product. The daphnia were huge, and every stage of life was represented, unfortunately just also as mostly dead.I will absolutely give this seller another try in less heat. I'm unclear if you can offer more money to get more temp resistant packaging or quicker ship speed.Overall looking forward to trying this again, better equipped with more knowledge. I rate this at three stars only because I have to rate against living product, and the overwhelming majority did not arrive in said condition. As the temperature was likely a main factor, and that by the size and appearance they look to have been raised well, I will be happy to adjust this rating after I make my next order.

The daphnia that were delivered were very large and well fed.

I like this product. Have purchased before. I used it to start a live food culture for my fish. I feed the daphnia green water.
