Ten Poems to Set You Free

If you have never tried poetry and are not sure you will like it, get this or any in the series. I especially liked this as it had some favorites of mine. The mood is one of opening the cage door and letting your heart out. Not necessarily your romantic heart but where the front seat goes the back seat goes. Although some of the explanations that accompany the offerings did not enhance my experience, as I had long ago formed my own ideas, they are a nice addition. Easy reading. One a day like a good piece of chocolate or a devotional. A price well spent.

Marvelous insights into the poems without dissecting to the point of losing their magic

A very nice little collection I bought as a gift. My sister loved poetry and I had seen it in her bookcase.

I keep buying new copies of this book because I give my copy away to deserving friends and then I find myself missing it again. There is a comfort in this book that I return to again and again both for the remembrance of the poets and poems chosen, and the author's conversation around the poems.

Roger Housden's "Ten Poems……." are absolutely incredible! The poems he selects by various poets speak to the spirit that was hungering for recognition and articulation. I recommend his series of Ten Poems….. emphatically!
