Great read!
I really enjoyed this book! I work at Stanford University and found the historical novel entertaining and curious about the real story. I appreciated the added, "Facts of the Case", at the end of the book. It has helped with further online investigation about Jane Stanford's death and relationship with the president of Stanford, David Jordan. I also love Oahu and have stayed at the Moana Surfrider so picturing the events there made the book even more interesting. Great read!

Peaks your interest into the death of the mother of Stanford University
My friend and I went on a historical tour of the Moana hotel while on a recent trip to Hawaii. During the tour, the death of Mrs. Stanford was discussed and this book was mentioned. The book is an interesting read based on historical fact. I will look for a non-fiction account of the death of the "mother of Stanford University" because I find the story very interesting.

"Poisoned Palms: The Murder of Mrs. Jane Lathrop Stanford"
"Poisoned Palms: The Murder of Mrs. Jane Lathrop Stanford" by Dorothea BuckinghamSuch fiction! It only muddies up the facts of a truly absorbing "Who 'dun it?" After 98 years of suppression of the facts of the case, it is really unworthy to confuse the issues.Geraldine Mott

Stanford and Hawaii explained
I'm not a Stanford grad, so I don't know how they would feel about this book, but for me, the best part was the history of Hawaii at the turn of the 20th century. I got a glimpse into how the people felt. The stuff about Mrs. Stanford was very interesting and the autopsy--well, let's just say I'll never eat pea soup again. Great read.
