Tokyo Banana Cake Original (8 banana)

This was a birthday gift.Brother had put off buying these for himself since they are pricey. We don't live anywhere near by that would sell these on hand (like international airport as stated in some comments).Came pretty quick. They are definitely made and sent fresh so make sure to check the expiration date to eat them in time. They were everything he had been hoping they would be. Definitely worth a once a year treat!

The filling tastes like a plain banana. The cake somehow tastes like a communion wafer but is super soft. It's a strange combo.

I ordered both the tokyo banana original and the giraffe version. My order was shipped in around 2-3 days, just like the company had said. However, it took longer than 2-4 days to ship to me. I chose Expedited Shipping because they said you could only choose that option for Tokyo banana as the custard cream is made from real pureed banana. Instead of 2-4 days, it took a total of 6 days. I was a bit bothered by this because it only gave me 3 days to eat it!!For the taste, I would recommend the original tokyo banana because it tasted better than the caramel custard. At first, I had thought that the cake would taste like Korean banana milk of a banana medicine I had a long time ago. Instead, it tasted quite like banana and was not extremely sweet. The sponge was very soft. Each banana was in it's on plastic banana shaped tray with a small bag of silica to wick moisture - all cased in a small plastic sleeve.As for the packaging of the shipped parcel, it was in a mailing bag that was written fragile, but with no bubble wrap or protection. Since it was like that, I feared that the boxes (they were made of cardboard) would be flattened but they weren't. Inside, the boxes of tokyo banana were wrapped in an official Tokyo Banana plastic bag!! I really enjoyed the bag because it showed more authenticity to the product.The appearance of the Tokyo bananas looked similar to the official picture shown on Amazon. It was nice to see the cute giraffe print on the banana!In conclusion, a great dessert to try, but you must be able to eat it quickly!

They have smooth creamy taste of banana that is perfect for a light snack. I loved them and wished I lived in Japan so I could enjoy this snack more often.
