Great unit - Works well
I was a little dubious after reading the negative responses about the latches, but went ahead and ordered. I agree the latches on the lid are not the sturdiest, but there are handles on the ends of the box that you can use to pick up the unit and the latches only need to close the lid. I run a lawn mower repair shop and our trailer sits outside, so didn't want a winch to set out in the weather all the time. I have used it several times to load large zero turn units. Works great. I use one of the included straps to wrap around the tongue of the trailer and attach to the unit with the included clevis pins. I run the winch rope through the pulley and back to the front of the trailer. I attach the second strap to the unit and to the hook on the pulley. I carry a jump pack to try to jump start the mower and if that doesn't work, power the winch with it to pull the mower onto the trailer. Pulls very heavy units on the trailer easily.

Amazingly Useful
If you need it, you'll love it. I'm using to strap to tie down points in toy hauler and to pull up a single PWC to inside my toy hauler. Theres room inside the box for a small ATV battery, which makes it even more portable and useful. I also added a trickle charger and quick connect/disconnect to the batter cable so honestly setup takes less than a couple minutes. If you have a need for a portable winch make sure you look at this... Having it all contained in a box, especially since you can fit a battery in there, makes this the perfect all-in-one solution.

Great winch for almost any ATV/UTV/JEEP
Only problem I see so far is the plastic latches to close the lid. Why would you skimp there. I hope the warranty will stand behind them. It seems to have ample pulling power, portability and quality except for the latches on the box. I mounted mine on a pre-fab mounting plate that fits a 2” receiver hitch.i can use it with my 6X4 Gator or my Jeep Liberty. You can hook the winch to a tree, drive a stake in the ground or another vehicle. You just must have a 12 volt power supply within 10 feet of the winch. I opted for the synthetic “rope” so I don’t get skewered by frayed steel cable. Nice unit !

Great homeowner grade winch
Mechanic by trade. My driveway is pretty steep and I occasionally need to get a non running vehicle to the top. In the past I’ve used a tire wedged between vehicles to push them up. Pretty sketchy and always some paint rub.I priced a harbor freight winch with a plate, shackles, webbing, snatch block, and I could get close to the price of this kit. But that would be from 4 vendors, driving places, stupid coupons, etc.Like other reviews have stated the latches on the toolbox are plastic. Boo hoo at this price. It’s low cost because of things like this. Been holding up fine for me.Additionally, I found reviewers have stated that the wire wrote frays after repeated use. Any chineseium steel cable will do this. It’s why they make replacement cables. Again, y’all are shopping price here.I’ve used come-alongs in the past, I really regret not getting this earlier in life. Additionally, the box hold everything so you don’t misplace, damage a power lead or remote control if you put it away for some time between uses.I started engineering needs for this once I got it. No more laying under the trailer like a chump trying to rewire it.

Nylon Winch Line Is Garbage
Update: I use this in my toy hauler RV to load my golf cart in the garage. I’m handicapped so I also bought the wireless remote and it allows me to load and unload while sitting in the golf cart by myself. I use a car battery in a battery box to power the winch which I also keep in the RV garage on a trickle charger. The nylon winch line is already frayed and ready to break. I called customer service at Superwinch where I was informed the winch line is not covered under the warranty. The winch is not even 6 months old.

Great little winch!
I bought this unit lo pull my tractor out of a swampy areas. The tractor was sunk to the axel on one side. By securing the winch to the front of the tractor and looped the cable (via pulley and extra rope) to big tree, I was able to pull my tractor free.I was careful to do it in small bursts, so not to fry the motor. The unit operated as I hoped. The only thing I would change, is to order the apparatus with the rope instead of the cable. The cable shows signs of coming apart. This was mostly my fault, as I was not able to guide the cable properly as it was reeling in under load.Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.

Great winch
I love this winch. Everything is nicely contained in the toolbox and protected from the weather when not in use. Installation was simple I bolted it to the deck of my trailer to an oversized 1/4” steel plate that was bolted to the trailer frame. I then bolted the winch to the steel plate and placed a second 1/4” steel plate under the decking to make it even more secure. It works great and has plenty of power. The synthetic rope is a little more expensive but very easy to handle. I’d give this 6 * if I could

Great Winch, poor execution on the box lid latches.
I bought this just a week or so ago. When I pulled it out of the box, I was disappointed to see that the latches on the box were PLASTIC.The point of getting this together in a box is that it's durable, and you can take it anywhere and use it. Keep it in your truck or trailer tool box, etc.Yesterday, I put it to the test. I winched a '69 F250 on to my dovetail trailer. It performed effortlessly. It's good for rolling stock, I wouldn't try to drag a disabled vehicle or one with a flat tire. BTW, if you're not familiar with proper techniques on how to use a winch, read the owners manual. After securing the truck, I started to gather up and stow everything back in the winch box, and guess what, one of the latches was missing. I had to find it an put it back on the box, luckily, it was not broken. If these latches get broke or go missing, it's no longer a winch in a box. It's a winch with a broken lid. "Winch 2 Go" changes to "where did all the stuff for my winch go?"Come one Superwinch, spend a buck or two and add durable latches for the lid!
