Magnetic Knife Holder, Heavy Duty Stainless Steel 12 Inch Knife Bar

While the bar is relatively simple to install, there is one issue that can complicate the installation. Two screws have to be inserted into whatever the bar will be attached to. The screw heads fit into holes on the back of the bar, so you can't see precisely where to put the screws so they will align with the holes. But the screw placement has to be precise. If the screws are off an eighth of an inch the bar won't fasten. Measuring where to drill the holes and how far the screws are put into the wall have to be exact. It is hard to get the screws in far enough for the bar to be tight against the wall without getting them in too far to fit into the holes on the back of the bar. Also, the screws that come with the product aren't appropriate for installation into many cabinets. They are 1-inch #6 screws. Most cabinets aren't an inch thick so the screws would stick through. I substituted 3/4 inch #8 screws.

After finally deciding where to mount this magnetic knife holder, we found that we needed 2 of them. So, like a dope, I ordered a 2nd one before actually trying it out. Turns out the magnet is not strong enough for my good knives....they just slip right off. So instead we have our old, ugly, mismatched knives hanging out in plain view.

Looks beautiful. The magnet could be a little stronger. The knives hold, but slip a little when first put on.

It looks sturdy and is quite hefty but magnet is not strong enough for big knives and can make anyone nervous. My small Shun and Tojiro paring knives were quite stable on the magnet unless you pull them down a bit, in which case they start sliding. However, the 8" Chef knife or my 11" slicer or the 11" bread knife hang on an angle due to weak magnet and given time will slide easily. I almost cut myself when slicer dropped down helped by gravity. I would not recommend this magnet to anyone.

My knife rack is fantastic and it frees my counterspace for me which was my whole idea. ..I love it!!!!!

Well, it LOOKED okay at first glance, but it doesn't lie flat! It also barely is strong enough to hold our larger Shun knives - the small ones are fine, but the big ones slide down a bit. I really don't trust it and am very disappointed.

Magnet is kind of weak. Knives sometimes fall off.

Arrived scratched !! Still going to use it as I need it and has taken a while to arrive. Tried a knife on knife holder and it marked easy.... wished I’d gone for cheaper option
