Extremely durable and was very simple to pack in my luggage on the three trips we took to the Bahamas. The Only complaint I have is that the flopper tip is not spring stainless and bent after shooting my first fish.

one use and broke already
Good product but used it for the first time and it snapped almost in half. The segments ended up breaking apart.

Good starter spear pole
This spear feels very sturdy once fully assembled. There have been a few reviews about the Scuba Choice spear sections coming loose during use, but I have not experience this during use. Simply make sure to really tighten them down before you head into the water. I actually found it difficult to break the pole down at the end of the day until the pole and my hands were completely dry.The sling is high quality and attached to the pole via a small through hole at the bottom of the pole drilled through an aluminum end cap and the fiberglass rod. I did find that I had to file out the fiberglass shards inside the hole before I could thread the sling through the hole. The tip is extremely sharp and the barb sits nice and flush while swimming/shooting. I haven't had any rock strikes during use, so I can't comment on others reviews of the tip being easily deformed. Multiple strikes into sand had no affect. This pole isn't the fastest out there, but it does pack pretty good speed with a formidable punch, not to mention a super quick reload time for a follow up shot. The only reason I am giving this pole Four Stars is because of the rivets used to attach the aluminum joining/end caps to the fiberglass rod. After packing my pole up and heading home I took the pole out of the bag a few days later and found a good deal of rust around each one of the rivet heads. My worry is that with repeated use the rivets may end up failing, causing an end cap to fall off, and rendering a section useless until being repaired. All in all this is a great beginner pole for the price.**My first order of this pole was missing the pole end (where the sling attaches). I purchased another pole and easily sent the original purchase back to amazon as an "incomplete item" for a full refund. (this method was utilized to avoid the timeline for a general replacement through return due to an impending trip I needed it for)

DO NOT BUY! BROKE ON 1ST PULL!
I purchased this to take on a beach camping trip. I put it together and literally the very first time I pulled the band back, I got about half way and the pole broke. The middle of the 3 sections exploded, splintered, and split right down the center. Having 3 pieces doesn't allow the force to be transferred evenly through the entire pole, so the force is concentrated on the middle section. I was in the middle of nowhere so I screwed the top and bottom together and instead of a 7' spear I had about a 4.5' spear. Since I "used" it I couldn't return it. The other thing is that your standard spear tips DO NOT FIT on the screw end of the spear. The screw is a smaller diameter than standard in order to allow the 3 sections to be interchangeable. The only tip that fits is the one that came with the spear, so if you hit a rock you're done.

pole splinters
pole splinters after one use, two sections started doing that as the ends where the metal ends were put on, possible just a defect, still works just have to be cautious, ordering replacement.
