Lots of drying power
I didn't intend to use this in normal fashion. The first thing I did was open the aluminum box and remove the contents. Inside were a bunch of small beads just slightly smaller than a BB. They are 100% ready to dry when removed from the pouch. That means they are pink. I left a few out for a day and they were almost black -- indicating they were ready to restore.I took the beads and folded them into a paper coffee filter. It was a number 4 and resulting package was about half the size of a individual polish sausage with much of that the result of my not trimming the paper in any way.I am using the product in a hearing aid dryer. The amount of beads is overkill. I could make up two or three packets and easily have the equivalent drying power required. I may do that down the road but, for now, all the are in the unit.I am hoping that removing the beads from the metal container will let me recharge them in the microwave. Similar product does that. This might have been a dumb approach but it seems to be working out better than most alternative products. It has more drying power and easily fits the unit.

Nothing holding hem together...
Perfect for my ammo boxes, and have yet to test them in the oven but I know they do turn green when full of moisture and don't have any doubt they will go back orange once heated in the oven. Opened one took a single ball out and dropped water on it and it changed from orange to green. Actually just dropped an electronic (an RC Quadcopter) in some water the other day so super happy i had just got these silica gel blocks because I put the device in a ziplock bag with some rice and one of these for 24 hours and the thing worked fine after. Noticed that some of he beads started to go a little green after that. So it obviously is working. One problem is there is nothing holding it together so there is potential that the lid part slides off the bottom part and you have millions of silica beads everywhere. I just grabbed some hair ties and double wrapped each one with a hair tie, rubber band or tape would work too.. 5 stars for how the gel works but loses a star for the way the box doesn't have a way to stay closed by itself. Huge potential for disaster...

Keeps my ammo dry, but uses a lot of ENERGY to recharge
I've used these cobalt blue silica beads before in a industrial application. They are very effective in a SEALED environment. They can be recharged 100's of time if they are kept clean of oil or grease. (clean oven)The color change from blue (dry) to pink (saturated) is easy to see in the small window.Recharge in an oven at 300 for 3hrs is good option, but it is a lot of energy. If they had a ceramic case, these could be recharged in a microwave in 5 minutes. This product keeps my sealed ammo box dry to <35% relative humidity. These are a little small for most safes if you open it often and/or the safe is not sealed. For higher capacity drying check out EVA DRY: Eva-dry Renewable EDV-300/E-333 Wireless Mini Dehumidifer <$20. I have two of these now and it dries my 1.2 cu. ft. safe very quickly (after opening). The unit has a built-in heater to recharge itself.. To recharge/renew it plug the unit into a wall outlet for up to 8hrs. I really like this unit. Keeps my 1.2cu ft safe dry <40% RH and still declining 3wks later.Note: The humidity will gradually decline over time as the contents of the safe (or any sealed container) release moisture as they are drying.

Avoid this product. They are not durable and are low quality.
Attempted to use to keep my Pelican and Apache cases without moisture, but these fill much quicker and bust open far more often than my genuine Pelican desiccants.Would not recommend. Save yourself the headache and get the real deal to protect your valuables.

Great way to keep out moisture.
I just received the 4 pack of these descant absorbers, all arrived in great condition with no dents or damage. The ones I received have the orange silica beads, not the cobalt blue warned about in other reviews. This means they are much safer to use and contain the same type of silica beads deemed safe for medical. I am using one of these in two of my most used camera bags and two in a large pelican case I use to store equipment when not in use, items such as my film cameras, lenses and flash units. I have never really had a problem with mold or mildew, as all my equipment is kept inside in an air conditioned environment. however, shooting swim meets often or shooting around water and humidity I do worry that I could encounter problems at any time. These are very compact and have the same components as the silica packs trusted for shipping and storage of cameras and lenses as they come from the manufacturer, just in an easily reusable form.As a side note, when it comes to electronics the ideal humidity is between 45% and 55% to avoid too much moisture but also to prevent dry static from too little. If you want to be a little more serious about the care of your treasured items, pick up a small hygrometer in addition to these to see how much moisture is really there.

Work well
These work surprisingly well. Also unlike other brands that seem to create a dust or powder these seem very clean and solid.

Awesome dehumidifier solution for my camera case!
I recently got a pelican case and custom built inserts to fit my bid DSLR camera and all the lenses and other equipment. I take my camera out camping with me at times and I was worried that the moisture from the morning dew could cause issues with my camera so I installed all 4 of these into my camer case and they take care of that problem so my camera stays nice and dry. There is a lot of Silica in these and the fact that they are "rechargeable" is great so you can reuse them numerous times. The recharge is done my putting these in the oven at high temps for a while which reactivates the Silica. I like that there is a little window on the front of these so you can see the silica as the color of it changes when it needs to be recharged. All of the little dots you see on the silica case are actually little air holes and are on the front and back of the case. These are the breathing holes where is sucks in the moisture. I attached a photo of how I used them in my camera case at the top of the product page. I would buy these again for sure!! Great purchase and great product!

Serves its purpose
Arrived dented and leaking some silica pellets.Colour-window is made of scratch-prone, cloudy plastic and effectively requires the lid to be removed to check the current colour.

Great quality
Very absorbing and the size is great for ammo cans or dresser drawers or cars. Very pleased with this. Worth grabbing a few.

Efficace, mais...
Efficace, mais un peu long à recharger. 2 heures à 180 degrés. La fenêtre pour vérifier la couleur des billes est un peu petite (moi j'ouvre la boite pour bien voir).
