Heavy Duty Lock Pin for Hitch Rack
I never bothered getting a locking hitch pin previously as I only had the hitch bar and ball to be stolen from my pickup. However, I recently bought a rack to go behind my SUV and realized that with the simple pull of the standard pin, someone could make off with the entire rack. This would amount to a much more significant investment. I looked into the pins on offer and selected the Cocoweb C-Lock Heavy Duty Hitch Pin. I have the one in black. The finish is nice, it is strong, well made and has a cap to seal the lock mechanism from the elements. The keys work easily. When I go into a store leaving the car and rack in the parking lot, I am a lot more comfortable knowing it should take someone a lot of effort to remove the pin. With the standard pin it would literally take seconds to steal the rack. Not now. Well worth the peace of mind. Relative to corrosion from road salt and similar, I can't say, but anything like this on a vehicle needs to be removed and cleaned on a regular basis and especially after exposure to road salt. I don't really think it could be better made, it looks and feels top quality.

Good pin for the price and will provide years of service with a minimum amount of care.
Fits 2" Class IV receiver with 5/8" diameter pin opening on a Dodge Ram with about 3/8" extra space (see pictures). I plan on cutting a small section of rubber hose to fill the gap. Overall there's about 2-3/4" between the lock and the fixed end when locked, so it's the right length for most Class IV receiver tubes. If you have a receiver that uses welded plates to attach the receiver tube to the drawbar, like some cheaper made OEM and aftermarket hitches, then this maybe too short for your vehicle. Not as difficult to lock/unlock or install as some reviews on here suggest. Remember it's a hitch pin and it should spin when installed if there is no friction on the receiver. As with any other mechanical fastening device that is exposed to the elements, it needs some occasional preventative maintenance (like lubricating the lock tumblers and spraying the pin with some corrosion preventative) in order for it to not rust and work properly. It's weather resistant, not weather proof, so if you install it and forget about it, then expect to have problems when trying to removing it months later.Bottom line this a good pin for the price and will provide years of service with a minimum amount of care.

Came with a scratch, also has to use key to lock end on rod
It is the Black one as pictured. came in bubble wrap and in a box in a bag. But it had a scratch on one end that is down to metal so it will rust there. The lock on this one has to use the key to push the two ball bearings inside out to fit the grove. you can NOT lock it off the rod and just push it in and have it spring around the grove area as someone said the silver one does. this one has to use the key to lock it on the rod and of course to unlock it.

Unit arrived in good condition. I checked out the keys to be sure they worked. They both slipped right in and released the lock, but when I tried to remove the key while in the locked position, the key would not come out. After much effort, turning, and wiggling, the first key came out. I tried the second key with the same results. I added a little lubricant to the keyhole and worked both keys in and out of the lock for about 5 minutes. After this exercise, both keys worked smoothly in the locked and released position. I can only hope there are no long term issues with the lock being in the weather when it is used for pulling the trailer.
